My wife has a 'red start' bib but has picked up an injury so won't be entering C2S this year. I have a 'blue' bib entry but was hoping to run a fairly fast time... Does anyone know if I could use her bib to get entrance to the red starting area but then swap to my blue-bib number so that the time is linked to me instead of my wife?

That won't work because if you run through the starting line with a blue bib in the red group you will be disqualified. If any bib goes over the line before their groups start time it will be disqualified.

Yep. You can do that without any problem at all.

The computer will however disqualify you -- far from recording a 'fairly fast time', you will have no time recorded at all.

what if he simply pinned the red one over the top then ripped it off later?
and where is the 'chip' at c2s? foot or on the number?
i thought rule number one with these things was if you're going to do something dodgy the last thing would be to tell anyone about it :D
may have a DQ problem if they realise a bloke ran under a ladies bib tho.

Not really understanding how it matters with what time you get to which group you start with.

Of course I get is lots of people, but aren't the blue group meant to be all runners?
I figured its going to take ages to get across the starting line, but once everyone is moving surely it will be easy enough to get around everyone and just run to your speed? That is what I am hoping anyway.

Thanks all - figured this might end up DQ'ing me so will stick with the Blue group!

As to other questions; the reason you want the time tied to your name is that you then get preferred start-groups (assuming you run fast enough) in subsequent years C2S races. Running from the Blue group its still possible to get a decent time but I suspect given the volume of people it will involve quite a lot of extra work either going around people or having to adjust your pace to avoid collisions. I may just settle for running it & enjoying instead of chasing a time.
