Well done to all who ran today. I just looked up a few names that I know under the results and saw some great times. Well done Tony, Grizzly, CL and PL.

Tough day at the office. Having had less than 4 hours sleep (my own fault for going out last night), i ran the whole way with Grizzly Bear, with both of taking turns at being the stronger runner. Held pretty close to 5min pace all th way, and even a bit of a fade out (especially the last 2kms) we managed to bring it home in 2.29.49 (gun time, net maybe 15seconds better?).
Dispelled any illusions i had about running MM, I'm obviously a long way off that sort of fitness.
Report card would read - pass, but needs to complete homework to maintain his grades.
Great morning for it, and met up with many of the usual suspects plus a few newer faces. Well done to everyone out there today. And a big thanks to GB for his company today.

Hi Brendan90

Just checked my time and I was (2.39.27) 10 seconds behind you. So I must be the 'other' bloke in green.

The aim has been to better 4 hrs for the MM. I ran 4.31 in 2003 and was shattered. Between injuries and life, its taken me this long to get to a point where I can give MM another tilt, plenty of half's but no Full mara. Looking at your Canberra time, and your 3.45 goal I think I might have to raise the bar a bit.

I've been following Sue Hobson's Canberra Marathon plan (2001)which I'm enjoying. Did a 34k long run last week so it was good to get through today in reasonable nick.

Given your result today, are you feeling confident with your MM goal, 3.45 would be a great effort. Myself, I'm not sure how today's effort might translate to the MM (also w/7-8 weeks of solid training left before the taper).

Just had a look at that results page, my result is about 15 seconds slower - Supernator you did finish in front of me! They must have sms'd me the net time, and put the gun times online.. So well done!

I can say i'm fairly confident i'll break 3:45 this year. Given that we are still about 10 weeks out and have already broken into 30km runs, i reckon it'll be achievable. I'll most likely run with the MM 3:45 pace group.

Going by our results today, the pace for a 3:45 marathon is 5:19/km, which we are both on/ahead of! We just have to believe in ourselves and stay confident!

Hi everyone!

Brilliant morning for a run.

I ran 30km with Tiger Boy. Aim was to hold 5min/km. We did this but it was a bit harder than we both thought.

Finished in a net 2:29:33 according to my watch.

We slowed towards the last lap but our pace was reasonably consistent throughout. Just that we worked pretty hard to keep it!

Well done to everyone who ran. Great to see some familiar faces & chat with some new! Special thanks to Tiger Boy for the company for a few hours!

And big thanks to the organisers & volunteers.

I think my next race is Sandy Point half in 3 weeks, then Sydney marathon (7 weeks) as a 'training' run before Melbourne. I'm not chasing a time at Melbourne but I will be helping others chase theirs - I'm pacing the 4:15 group.

Enjoy your recoveries.

Dave

Just need to change screen to which ever race you did - top LH corner RACE DETAILS

interestingly this time puts me at 20 seconds slower than the SMS i received after the race? not the end of the world, but might be for someone who missed their PB.

Looking at brendan90's post, looks like net times were SMS'd, gun times are online.

Yeah. If you search for yourself, the results there are a bit different.   From the list I got position 100 - searching for my name got pos 106.  I guess we'll wait until it's more official.

What a terrific morning. I wanted to try to average 5.20 pace which would get me across the line in 2:40 (that would be the fastest I'd ever run beyond 21.1km). First few laps were tracking well, just below 5.20 pace. Then a good friend of mine (who is a much better runner than me) joined me from the crowd for 1.5 laps and I just got into a really good rhythm with him (thanks Liggo!) hardly looking at my watch. He left with just over 2 laps to go and I was in cruise control. WIthout even thinking about my pace, my last lap kms went:

5:15
5:07
4:56
4:56
4:19

...for an overall 2:34:25, or 5.09 pace. I felt very strong at the line, so will have to do some thinking about target marathon time (my first).

And my fear that it would be a boring run was, for me, unfounded. I quite enjoyed the 5km circuit and it was great to see so many people out there enjoying the beautiful morning.

Despite going around in circles, I love this run! I think the little addition towards the railway and back gives it interest.

Caught up with a few regulars before the run, and started off very conservatively. Managed to feel ok for the first 5 laps, then knew I would struggle for the last 5km. Lo and behold, the very gentlemanly lyricnz, whom I'd never met before, joined me for the last lap ... after having run his own 30km! I came in at 3:16:24 (according to Tomato Timing!), which I'm relatively happy with.

Thanks to lyricnz and all the other CRs and supporters for their welcome cheers of 'Go, coolrunner' throughout the day.

ended up with 2.19, 4mins slower than my 30km checkpoint at gc marathon. i guess a month of bugger all running (fake recovery) had lost me a few minutes. time to shape up for melbourne in october. pancakes, lollies, manadarins at the end all excellent, that weird chocloate not so great. fantastic day.

Good day in the office - and almost happy with my time.

30km for me today - preferably at marathon goal pace.

After going out too fast at GCM I was keen to sit on exactly 4:12 pace.  Hence after the 1st lap done at 00:20:37 (23 Seconds too fast) I was a bit peeved with myself and paid for it later.  Lap 2 (00:21:06), 3 (00:21:29) and 4 (00:21:29) were a little better.

After that it was a matter of holding on to a reasonable time - and staying under 2:10:00

The last 2 laps were done in 00:22:10 and 00:22:35 and a finish time of 2:10:17.

Very happy to go under 90 minutes for the 1/2 marathon for only the 4th time (89:50).

I enjoyed this event. Very relaxed and well organised. Took it as a training run. I got two things out of it:
1. A very sore knee (outside of knee with pain shooting up my thigh, ITBS???)
2. and according to the results, my age has dropped by (at least) 9 years!  :good: I'll have to do this event every year. :)

I enjoyed the run, ended up with a pb of 2:06:49 which has given me confidence to tackle a sub 3 hr marathon.   Anyway, I'm a little peeved in that I checked every photo and got to the last one, group shot, and there I wasn't.   Cropped in half (or quarter more like it) on the right-hand side of the photo.

essaytee congratuations on the PB to you and all the other CRs who achieved their goals. shucks about the photo - I am sure that you wouldn't do that!

Sorry to hear from TB that he doesn't think he is up to the MM this year - too busy achieving other goals I guess.

Thanks for the support Dizzy. I was happy to improve my 5k time by almost half a minute per k. Mind you its a couple of years since I had done that distance so it was due for a good rattle. Its heartning to know that even though I have been training for longer events and doing quite a lot of slower runs my times are OK. Now, like others, to make sure I am well prepared for the MM
