At the end of October there is the Black Hill challenge which is a fun trail course.  They have changed the route this year so it will be 15km.  Most of the longer distance events decline over the summer.  In November there is the 10km Glenelg Classic and Fanatics HM on Christmas day.  I think the first SA-based HM in 2012 is Clare in early April.  There's the Cadbury HM in Tasmania in early January if you want to travel.

This is some info from last year's Fanatics HM:

http://www.sarrc.asn...ocial&Itemid=25

It's an informal run that has no fees or forms, you just turn up at West Lakes, sing a carol and then run 8, 13 or 21km and and time yourself.  I've never done it but I believe they get a fairly decent turnout.

I couldn't find anything on the SARRC website about it for this year.

No, they just wanted to get the times in ink before they commit them to electrons... :pardon:

The organisers always want it in print first so that they can sell more newspapers but most years the results appear on the website around lunch the same day or at the latest overnight so that the results and photos/certificates are available the next day.  There are sales in photos also so they want them up as soon as possible.  The CityBay website initially said certificates would be available 21 Sep which needs results at the same time.

Something has caused them problems.  Most likely, lots of people with no start time recorded.

On a slightly different aspect, has anyone else noted that the chances of problems with run management seems to be in proportion to the length of the queues at the Portaloos 15-30 min before the start?

Just checked the CityBay website.

Looks like the 2011 results are up.

That would make sense if they didn't give all participants a voucher to get the printed results... I just think their logic is slightly screwy.  They could earn way more out of on-line advertising on the search pages!

I am very confident that the City-Bay are contractually bound not to release any results before they are printed in the Advertiser. Celtic Runner has more details as he tried to get the results earlier to determine the SA Road Runner trophy winners.

PS Great to see so many SA Road Runner members winning their Age Group!

Simlin - and others - be aware that the age group winners as printed in the newspaper were INCORRECT in places - I'm told this was through no fault of the C2B office.
The online results are correct and the discrepancy between printed results and online does affect some SARRC members.

What they were doing there I have no idea, the 12 walk start occurred after all three of the 12 km wave starts

Actually the 12 km walkers were started before all of the 12 km runners could start. I positioned myself right at the back as I haven't done any training all year and as we were let off we saw that the walkers on the other side of the road were already going. Not happy!!! I was yelling at people (politely if course) to move to the left at first, but quickly ran out of extra breath for that sort of thing :)

I'm going to be very ambitious and aim for a sub 60 next year. I want a pink bib :p

I really feel for the guys in the City to Bay office at the moment - must be a nightmare!

They've been really helpful for me and will adjust my time to 52.26 based on my garmin time - i'm just having a little chuckle because yesterday my time in the paper was 55.07, this morning online it was 55.34 and now it's 55.09.

was unable to enter as planned as we were in the riverland for a family birthday. so the plan now is the run4life in october.

i would also loved to have been able to do the murray man this year, but even the short event on the saturday, the 250m swim would probably kill me.

maybe next year

Photos are up and for me the wait was worthwhile.  At last a decent picture of me crossing the finish line.
