Can't make this one. Have signed up for the TriShave triathlon on the same day and don't like my chances of survival if I attempt to do both!

I ran this last year for the first time and enjoyed the "old fashioned fun run" feel. It is a pretty flat course, it does not start too early :lazy: and there were lots of lucky draw prizes  :Applause: . Also it would be a great pity to miss it as it is the last one.

Hi there,

I've done this run a few times over the years and while it's not an overly tough course, it still has it's moment's. In other words it's not dead flat. It's also a run worth supporting; it's what fun run's used to be about when I first started many years ago.Community based, cheap as chips and a nice 'feel' about it and monies raised go to a worthwhile local cause. The organiser John Wilcocks has been the race director from the start and has always done a great job. So I urge anyone out in CR land, if possible, to come out and support this event and say hello to a few of your fellow CR's while your there, as by the looks of things there will be a few of us out there.

Cheers

The St Mary's South run was once more very well organised.

With trying conditions (20 degrees, 96% humidity), the drink stations were welcome, as were the friendly course marshalls.

Managed 39:44; I've run faster but I did enjoy today. It was great to catch up with Freezer and Mrs Freezer, KatieR, slowmc who led me all day and beat me comfortably, BeesKnees, Lotsahare, John Dawlings and of course the now Western Sydney famous The Keg.

Sorry I couldn't stick around guys; I hope you won lots of bling and spot prizes. Well done to the organisers in their final outing on this course!

cheers, BB

Very tough conditions indeed today.  I managed a rather pedstrian 31.44 - about 2 mnutes slower than when I last ran the course.  Still, with the other 50 year olds obviously struggling even more than me, I was able to  win my age group.

As always it was wonderfully well organised.   It was great to see the entire field all come together to clap the last runner home.  This, to my mind, is what fun runs are all about.

Sad that this is the last time the event will be held.  A huge thank you to John Wilcocks for his efforts over the years.

Was a great run, well organised and friendly. Forgot to charge my watch so did the run without...wasn't necessarily a good thing as I pushed myself beyond max hr for sure, judging by the arguments I had with myself! Weak me was saying, 'just stop, you feel like crap' while competitive me was saying 'c'mon, get going!' ...all the way along! Was all worth it though to come thru first female- haven't done that for many years! Was good to chat again to Kookaburra and to meet other CRs. Hubby and I are enjoying our re-entry into the fun run world...after a break of almost a decade. A great way to earn dessert! ^_^

It was an enjoyable run at St Marys today, sadly being held for the last time.

Good to see CR friends and nice to meet Braebrooke,Congratulations on your bling.
Nice to see friends recieving medals and lucky draw prizes.

Thank You to John,Denise and their family and hardworking team of volunteers for their dedication in successfully putting this run on for the past 14 years.

Andrew Lloyd was an inspirational guest speaker and it was nice that he was willing to speak with runners and pose for photos with them.

It was nice to see State MP Tania Davies at the start of the run and the beautiful, hardworking Penrith Councillor Prue involved in the prizegiving. She confidently spoke of the run and the volunteers on behalf of The Penrith Council. It is wonderful that both ladies have supported the St Marys runs and that Prue has been a past competitor at the other St Marys run.

It was great to see some of the City to Surf Legends participate and a nice touch to finish with footage from previous runs.

Thank You for the memories and sad to see it go.

Thanks for that BeesKees.  How did you think to look in the Sydney Morning Herald.  You must certainly read the paper thoroughly.

Just happened to see them, I often look to see Athletics results, but didn't think I would see my name printed there.

Thanks to all at St marys I came along last years thanks to an invite by KatieR and was really impressed with their organisation and friendliness.

Had a great race with another lady who I figured was in my age group, every now and again I would walk and she would catch me, but the competitive spirit would come back and I would start to run again, ended up beating  her by about 30 secs and surprised to get 3rd in my age group.

Thanks to John and Denise I hope that you felt the love in the room. Great to see support from Andrew Lloyd. Nice speech by Anthony F and there was a nice speech made by DrJH at the other St Marys run

Always sad when a run ceases to be. So many keen runners - great organisation and presentation. Maybe a few years down the track someone may have a go at reviving this run. Had a reasonable run myself. Managed to start passing runners after the first 2k.

Hi,

Was glad be able to do this run again and it was another great event.Saw alot of familiar faces from around the place and it was gratifying to see so many runners from different clubs/running groups out there supporting this event for the last time. Was also pleased to report that we had eight runners from Girraween Athletics Club turn up to support this event, thanks guys for that.Nice to see Andrew Lloyd come out and support this event and share some of his running memories to. Thanks John and all your helpers for putting this event on over the years. Like I've said before, this is what a fun run should be about and it reminded me of many of the events I used to run, when I first started out some time ago.Event's like this are fast disappearing. Anyway, thanks again for the memories.

Cheers

Would also be nice to be able to track down photos from Sunday's event if anyone knows the name of the photographer.
