I was put onto the www.strava.com website by a cycling friend - it is a social network for sharing exercise info with friends.

They (strava) look like they are trying to extend it to the running community as well - and it is an interesting way of looking at what other exercise enthusiasts are doing.

It works by uploading all of your GPS data and then comparing it to 'friends' - I have uploaded everything since 1/1/2010.

Lots of fun - except I don't have any friends and can't really see what runs others are doing.

Is anyone else using it???

(PS. I have no connection with strava)

I was recently directed to this site and so far am finding it quite good.
There are some cool features that Garmin Connect does not have, but is possibly not quite as flexible as Sportstracks is (or was when I last had a version active...)

The ability to add friends and to 'spy on their training' is a bit of fun, as long as people are not too precious about what they are doing or not doing in training. But then you can always only include the sessions you are happy to share and have your main training log elsewhere.

You can compare Segments of running against others who have run the same Segment. I found it interesting that it identified one part of the Melbourne Marathon course and showed 3 or 4 others who ran through that Segment on race day.
Although I'm not quite sure how you get a Segment to be active and recognised, so I still have a bit of investigating to do.

So far I like it & happy if others want to 'hook up' on Strava to get a CR group going there also.

Ive just discovered this site in the last week. I recently got me a Garmin and currently am using Garmin Connect, Mapmyrun and Strava. Strava is great though! thinking of splashing the cash on premium! Anyone got any experience with this? Happy to make strava friends!

There's another thread around here somewhere about someone starting a CR group on Strava. It's up and running, you should be able to find it with a search.
