You do need to be a registered Athlete with a club through Athletics NSW or any other state to compete. The details are here NSW 3000M Titles
There are 7 male races and 3 female races starting at 6pm at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics track today.
Should be a good night for it with the cooler weather.
Due to my inglorious year of running I'm in the G race at 6pm.

Some great racing out at Homebush tonight. Ran in the G race amd finished in 10:53. About as well as I expected anyway.
Seven male races and three female races
The overall winners were:
1. Joshua Wright 8:13.73
2. Tom Fawthorpe 8:14.24
3. Daniel Bulmer 8:14.87
1. Lisa Corrigan 9:03.53
2. Emily Brichacek 9:09.88
3. Belinda Martin 9:18.51
There was a great run by Jonathan Hew in the Men's C race who with about 500m to go and being behind 1st by about 80m unleashed a monster kick at the bell and went past the lot with about 250m to go to win the race in 8:42. Bekele would have been impressed.

Hi Superflake, not sure if it was you I said hi to (was wearing a syd uni top) but good to race against you. First time at 3k and it showed - had no idea how to pace that run and came in at 11.01 - I've run xc 4ks at a faster pace than that! Is there only one 3k per year with athletics nsw?

Well done to Joshua Wright for beating all the interstate athletes home.
Also great races by Nancy Newsome and Robyn Basman in the Womens B race. Possibly Masters records, NSW record for Newsome and a Australian record for Basman?
The women's race was a great contest between Corrigan and Brickacheck. Belinda Martin also ran a big PB to get third overall, and to become NSW Champion.
I did 11:14 in the G race. Was happy with a masters PB but would liked to have been closer to 11 or under.

There are plenty of 3km races, but only one State championship.
Check out the ANSW website for upcoming comps such as Club Premiership, allcomers etc.
