Today was the first "Toongabbie Creek 5km Time Trial".   Posted Image Posted Image

13 keen runners, of mixed speeds and abilities had fun out there.  It is 2 lap, out and back course, so you are passing runners coming the other way every few minutes, ensuring the support and motivation was high out there!  We all achieved course PB's!!!  And some, real PB's!  Posted Image

Results are here.

And the location is here - map of course.  We start at the end of Chanel St,Toongabbie closest to Old Windsor Rd, where the footpath enters the park.

The next run will be 16/12/2011, and hopefully fortnightly after the XMAS period.

Thanks for organising NTR.  Glad I got up early for this one.  I wasn't going to push it but that damn competitive voice in my head said go for it :diablo: I'll happily claim a 30 second 5km PB - 2 Garmins said distance was 5km so thats good enough for me  B).  I can't make 16/12, but I'll be OK for a fortnightly run after Xmas.

Nice to be able to attend the inaugral race.

Good that the were runners of different abilities and great that you saw everyone go by.

Hope to be back as long as the roster lets me, though if the roster lets me, it means sadly I can't attend the twilight runs. Sadly with Perth being 3 hours behind Sydney time we need 3 people on till 5.30pm so you win some you lose some.

Great spot for a run. Enjoyed it and will be back for the full 5km next time. Time restraints cut my run short this time but had a great time.

I have a track session on Thursday night so would probably not capable of completing a 5km run let alone a time trial.

BoneyChic it doesn't have to be a T.T, you can just do it as a recovery run.

BoneyChic - this is sooo local to you!! I will probably meet another runner or two at the Cnr Fitzwilliam and Old Windsor Rd at 5:30am to slowly jog and quickly chat our way down there - you are more then welcome to join us.

Wonder if we will get 13 runners again tomorrow!!!???

What a superb morning for running!!!  Another good turn up, and some improvements in times and distances too! Great to see new faces there too!!

The results are updated, with green highlighting course PBs, and for those I know of, blue highlighting a personal 5km PB - nice work ODS!

Same again in a fortnight - 30/12/11?

Nice morning for a run.

The Book of Excuses was quite dog eared with everyone using it.

Did a mid range performance, running not D.U.I.

Thanks to Ian for organising this run.

30th December sounds okay.

Didn't feel great this morning but still ran OK considering - 23.05, 1 minute slower than last fortnight.

Thanks again NTR, and at this stage I should be OK for the 30th.

Bump :-)

There are already half a dozen locked in to run - last chance possibly of the year to get a year to date best 5km, or PB!!!

The course is pretty flat, and 2 laps of an out and back course impossible to get lost on!

We should be fine.

I have seen many walking their dogs who make ne look super, super slim.

BTW, there is going to a battle of the giants on Friday. Craigus v's AaronR. Winner takes the spoils.

If I make it (and I should) i can donate a block of Rolo to the winner, just have to remember to bring it. That should bring out the competitive edge to all.

Top morning out there - 14 runners and some great times! 3 new runners ( Walter ,Brendan and AaronR ) helped obtain 6 course PBs ( including BoneyChic and Dan ) and a PB by Joal. I was a few seconds slower then last time, but felt faster - go figure!!

Results are posted.

I demand a rematch of the Battle of the Giants!

See you again on Friday the thirteenth!

I suspect that Aaron was holding back a bit to enable me to run neck and neck.  I found it a bit of a struggle so thanks for dragging me to a 22.14 - my second best 5k time.  I know that a 21.xx is not far off with a bit of training (time to get off my backside and stop being lazy).

I am really enjoying these runs - the speed work is great.  Either chasing or being chased by others makes you find that little bit extra - there is no way I could get anywhere near these times in my normally solo training.  Thanks NTR for organising.

Some how I managed to go a few seconds faster than last month but this month I had a few walking breaks, as I was feeling lazy.
Looks like the weekend of 13/14/15 will we be seeing a lot of each other. 13th Toongabbie, 14th CR west, 15th SMC. Hope our better halves wil be understanding!

I was holding back a little, but it was to not go out and hurt myself after the long run. As posted on Facebook, I wouldn't have gone more than 20-25 secs faster anyway. Give you a month or two and you will be in form and you will kick my backside, I know you have more to give. :im Not Worthy:

It was a good morning for running. A light sprinkle of rain to wake us up. Jogged to the start and home + some more kms after.

I keep improving my times. Shouldn't have a problem of breaking 30 minutes next run.

Glad I was there to witness The Land of the Giants battle. Though there could of been a stewards enquiry regarding a bona-fide effort of one of the runners.

Craigus, re colour co-ordination, only 2 didn't get the memo for this month to wear white. Next run, black is fine by me, though blue is better. Red, maybe a while off as even if I wear it, I won't go any faster.

Well done to people who did P.B's, close to P.B's, P.W's, close to P.W's and all others not previously mentioned.

My goal will be the same as the previous three races - sub 20mins or bust!! My record thus far is 20.39,20:06, and 20:07. So i ask myself..."Do I feel lucky?"  Definately this week, as its Friday the 13th!!!  Try and wear or bring something black!!!

Who else is in for the run?

I'll be there.  No sandbagging or excuses this week.  Overnight forecast is 14 degrees - perfect for running.  And I've actually done some training over the last fortnight.

21.XX - bring it on  :aggressive:

Despite some hard training over the last 2 weeks I can't make it this time due to other commitments.

Still feeling the effects of intervals on Wed so will save myself the embarassment of limping through 5k!

Forgot to mention the black call was heeded by nearly a 100% success. The person who didn't, wore a red top and was the fastest. We all now know that red is the fastest colour.

Next fortnight, red should be worn by runners aiming for a P.B.

Me, I will be wearing bue.
