I woke up late, wasn't feeling too great. I took the party pooper option, started at eight.

TimHorrieBel are alive and well after doing the Party Pooper's Pooper's option. Ended up walking just short of 18km, which was a huge effort for BlueBel and Timmeister. Now feeling very relaxed after starting the year on such a positive note.  :yahoo:

Well it's been a long time between running events for Mikey & I... Even longer since I posted here!
But as a last minute decision we decided to start the new year off with this amazing event.. Did it last year (possibly the last running event we did).. Last year it was a love/hate run event.. Really grateful that it was cooler today:)
What an amazing morning we had! Even shaved about 35mins off last years time!!
Only did the party pooper option but feel keen to attempt the full Monty next year:)
Got there about 3 mins to 7 so no time to stop and meet everyone so I ope everyone had a great run:)
Time to plan the next event.. I have the bug back again finally!!

Awesome cool day today.  Managed to break my PB both in position and time compared to last year. From 4th last and a few minutes shy of 6 hours last year to 2nd last and about 5.15 :) including getting lost by missing the chillcot road turn and continued on for about 2k or so before realizing, and I also managed to take 4 people who ran along with me.  Sorry guys.  I promise not to do it again next year.  Thanks for the ice and water, ratdog, wouldn't be able to make it without. Missing the cicadas in the morning though.  They decided to wake up later.  Lazy buggers.  Looking forward to do it again next year.  Thanks, everyone.

Had about a dozen start early at 6am. Including the beer bet fav Action who blitzed everyone in the bush to get the first ferry and take off up the hill.
Plenty of fog in the valley leading to the ferry and up the other side.
I only ran to the fire trail gate after the hill and ran back down to the ferry. Thanks for the ice water rat dog.  :clapping:

Met Colin at the ferry and we ran back up the road together to the finish.  :)

Great fun on New Years Day as always. Did 24ks which is my lngest since October which really hurt.

Hadn't remembered how tough it was downhill.Where were the slow runners/walkers. Only saw 2 runners after the start. One bloke who started late then again after he got lost and another girl who got lost. Didn't want to climb the hill by myself so took the road back.Good start to the new year.

2012 was much more enjoyable than 2011.  The 2011 heat affected me in a big way.  Much cooler this year.  Finished around half an hour quicker.

Cheers to Ratdog for dropping the water  :im Not Worthy:

Such a good way to start the year.  I had a couple of moments asking myself 'why' out there.  Especially when my Garmin auto paused when I was 'running' up a hill.  Surely I couldn't be moving that slowly could I!?

Great to see lots of familiar faces and to meet a few new ones.  Good running with you Paul and canta (I think that was your CR name).

Enjoy

First time for me - tough gig coming back up out of the Ferry! Fark.  Did the Full Monty in the end.  Felt like Satan jumped all over me and used me as his own personal play toy halfway up that rockclimb!  Still, glad it's done :) around 3:41 including ferries (missed the one back damnit).

Have done this event twice now and while it make no sense in so many ways (Crazy climbs, New Years Day, and no official results) it also makes so much sense (crazy good views, great start to the year, and really who am I racing except myself).

This really is a great run with some superb scenery throughout and the luck of the dice with the ferry just adds enormously to the fun of the day. I decided I was not up for the full monty this year so just ran to the gate at the end of McCallums Ave and turned there.  Missed the ferry so grabbed an ice cream at the shop and dawdled down to the ferry for the trip back up. That climb coming back up to Berowra really is brutal but if I was looking for an easy run to start the year I was lost before the run even started.  Managed to just avoid stepping on a small snake on this leg which made me realise that my heart rate really could go up a bit more so battled on to the finish.

Just ran with two small hand bottles and filled up at the ferry both times and at the esky at McCallums gate so also thanks to Jan. Thanks also to the other runners for the feel good attitude throughout. It was a day I really needed some friendly faces and easy conversation. If you are thinking of doing this run I would very strongly recommend it...... even on 2.5 hours sleep.

This was my first BTBS run and I enjoyed it, meeting runners for the first time, Louie de Fly it was nice to chat with you.

I was intrigued with 'The Ruined Castle of Calabash'-(The Fretus Hotel) and spent a few minutes checking it out.
Would love to see a plaque at this site!

I ran with Paul on the road heading back down to the ferry and met up with OurDogScruff at the river. This was the first time I've met these guys and we had a great chat as we ran together back to the finish.

To ratdog, thanks for the esky stations, it was much appreciated!!!
