But as a last minute decision we decided to start the new year off with this amazing event.. Did it last year (possibly the last running event we did).. Last year it was a love/hate run event.. Really grateful that it was cooler today:)
What an amazing morning we had! Even shaved about 35mins off last years time!!
Only did the party pooper option but feel keen to attempt the full Monty next year:)
Got there about 3 mins to 7 so no time to stop and meet everyone so I ope everyone had a great run:)
Time to plan the next event.. I have the bug back again finally!!

Plenty of fog in the valley leading to the ferry and up the other side.
I only ran to the fire trail gate after the hill and ran back down to the ferry. Thanks for the ice water rat dog.
Met Colin at the ferry and we ran back up the road together to the finish.
Great fun on New Years Day as always. Did 24ks which is my lngest since October which really hurt.

Cheers to Ratdog for dropping the water
Such a good way to start the year. I had a couple of moments asking myself 'why' out there. Especially when my Garmin auto paused when I was 'running' up a hill. Surely I couldn't be moving that slowly could I!?
Great to see lots of familiar faces and to meet a few new ones. Good running with you Paul and canta (I think that was your CR name).
Enjoy

This really is a great run with some superb scenery throughout and the luck of the dice with the ferry just adds enormously to the fun of the day. I decided I was not up for the full monty this year so just ran to the gate at the end of McCallums Ave and turned there. Missed the ferry so grabbed an ice cream at the shop and dawdled down to the ferry for the trip back up. That climb coming back up to Berowra really is brutal but if I was looking for an easy run to start the year I was lost before the run even started. Managed to just avoid stepping on a small snake on this leg which made me realise that my heart rate really could go up a bit more so battled on to the finish.
Just ran with two small hand bottles and filled up at the ferry both times and at the esky at McCallums gate so also thanks to Jan. Thanks also to the other runners for the feel good attitude throughout. It was a day I really needed some friendly faces and easy conversation. If you are thinking of doing this run I would very strongly recommend it...... even on 2.5 hours sleep.

I was intrigued with 'The Ruined Castle of Calabash'-(The Fretus Hotel) and spent a few minutes checking it out.
Would love to see a plaque at this site!
I ran with Paul on the road heading back down to the ferry and met up with OurDogScruff at the river. This was the first time I've met these guys and we had a great chat as we ran together back to the finish.
To ratdog, thanks for the esky stations, it was much appreciated!!!
