G'day All,

I have read through a few others in my limited here time so I hope I'm not repeating another topic.

The basic question i have is "Why do my saliva glands flood my mouth when i start running?"  A longer explanation is, when i start a run of any distance, my mouth floods of saliva which hampers breathing spitting it all out. Not to mention the appearance of spitting while running in groups. I haven't gone to a GP about it as it lasts for about 30 secs then seems to be alright but it's one of those things which bugs me without knowing why?

If it seems to be a common occurence agmonst other runners, fine and well. Just curious?

Cheers
Browny

You're confused.  You're swimming.  Close your mouth.  Sorry, no serious help.

Most runners have to spit regularly, its perfectly normal. You just need to move to the side or the back of the group and spit discretely.

no idea. NO idea why my nose & eyes run like taps either. I have to take a small hanky tucked into my waist band with me. Some days it looks like I am crying.

I always get the sniffles and sneezes a hour hours after a long training session. It's not a cold and it goes away after an hour or so. Don't know why.
But yes, I'm always spitting and using the bush hanky.
