Regular Melb Training Runs + Coffee 2012

Is anyone up for a run New Years Day, say about 90 minutes (long enuogh to get a decent run in, but not too long that we have flogged ourselves silly after a potential NYE celebration).
Because many of us may have a later than usual bedtime due to the festivities of the night before, happy to start at 9.00 a.m. bottom of Anderson St.
Anyone game?

Its going to be a warm one on the 1st, so I can start earlier if that suits everyone else.

As I don't really like NYE and will attempt to stay home, if an earlier start is in place then I will give it some thought but in reality I would say I am doubtful and will probably do a run around my local trails.

Shall we say 8.30 start, and 90 minutes maximum so that we are done by 10.00a.m. I'll try to plot something out a bit later, maybe head off around Albert Park this time?

Actually, nice to have an excuse to escape the mess that will no doubt be left from my friends/family and hopefully come home to a clean house.
Happy New year everyone

As Michael said, we will meet at 8.00 a.m Sunday, bottom of Anderson St.
Thought we could do the same loop as last week (approx 15km) but with an option to add on and bring to about 20km for those interested in a little bit more.
See some of you there

Haven't run with CR's in a (too) long time.
Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.
If you guys are running 15km I may do some before as I want a longish run of around 25km.
Hope to see you at 8am.

I think you'll find that a 20k training run is planned by the main group for the day. Me being the exception as I'm in taper mode for 'TwoBays' the following Sunday. Hence the reference to 15k's (TB looks after me).
So if you run a lap of the Tan before or aft you'll be in the ball park for 25.

Just wanted to check: is this a close group of friends or can anyone join to run? What pace per km are the runs usually? sounds like fast....
I wanted to run in a group on weekends but most runs i read about were not happening close to Tan or Albert Park; as I have no car, don't want to travel much for a run.
So these runs start at Anderson str which is ok, where do they end?
Thank you

There's a few regulars and others who come along once in a while.
Pace varies depending on the slowest person, sometimes we splinter off into a couple of groups.
We always finish off back where we started at the bottom of Anderson St and go for a coffee and a chat afterwards.
Why not come along for a run?

These running groups are informal and for all abilities. The faster runners will usually stop and wait for the slower ones, usually next to a drink fountain. Your pace isn't too bad, at the moment I would struggle to maintain that. Unfortunately I wont be there as my wife and I are planning a good look at the Two Bays trail. Actually it's been a long time since I joined in for one of these-I'd better change that soon!

Yes you had.
Lunaa - feel free to come along, we haven't lost anybody yet, and as Wombat said, if we do split, we normally regroup, generally near a drink tap.
This week there will be a few options, I think there are cut out points for around 12,15 and 20km runs.

Not sure what will be happening next week, I'm away for the weekend and Luckyguy has 2 bays trail run.
Keep your eye on this thread though, because we do run most weeks, so even if we don't get next weekend, we will be back sometime.

It was a great run - I ended up with 24km - and managed to chat to most of the group at some stage.
My lack of pace wasn't too much of a hinderance as the group was kind enough to wait for me at drink stops!
But the best bit was the coffee and chat afterwards - brilliant!
Don't know when I'll get back there (I have a crazy schedule) but to anyone thinking of running with the group, the advice & experience is priceless so just do it.
Good luck to the 2 Bays guys this weekend.

You will also see me on Saturday at Box Hill.
Frankie - I cannot imagine how heavy the legs would be after 2 Bays but I would love to run with you while I debate what the best album of the 80's was.

The legs feel quite good, Slept in my ''skins'' on Sunday and Monday night. Last night went for a swim at a friend's pool, i wll post a run report on the two bays thread. There was no hobbling around on Monday and Tuesday like after my very first Marathon
See you on Sunday morning for a chat about 80s music and of course for a ''gentle'' run

Much the same loop as last week, but i thought we could stretch it out a little further to bout 23kms or so. Figured we could continue on from Dights up to Heidelberg Rd then straight back along Yarra Bend Rd etc.
This means that there is still the option of turning back at Dights as per last weeks Tiger Loop, but we can also have the Tiger Loop + which just gives those extra couple of kms.
Figured that as we had a couple of people training for upcoming marathons we need to extend them a little bit.
Any takers?
P.s. - if anyone else has ideas/thoughts etc. about a proposed run, feel free to jump in. I'm happy to come up with these runs, but happy to follow if someone wants something different.

If there will be lots of people on the tan...wouldn't Albert park be a better option?
