OK everyone, time for a new thread to kick off running for 2012.
Is anyone up for a run New Years Day, say about 90 minutes (long enuogh to get a decent run in, but not too long that we have flogged ourselves silly after a potential NYE celebration).
Because many of us may have a later than usual bedtime due to the festivities of the night before, happy to start at 9.00 a.m. bottom of Anderson St.
Anyone game?

I'm game Tony. See you at 9:00am at Anderson Street.

Its going to be a warm one on the 1st, so I can start earlier if that suits everyone else.

I think with the heat and the later start, it might be less than ideal.

As I don't really like NYE and will attempt to stay home, if an earlier start is in place then I will give it some thought but in reality I would say I am doubtful and will probably do a run around my local trails.

Happy to make it an earlier start, I was just thinking if there were a few late nights that could help.
Shall we say 8.30 start, and 90 minutes maximum so that we are done by 10.00a.m. I'll try to plot something out a bit later, maybe head off around Albert Park this time?

Hi Tony's. I should be able to run with you on Sunday (8.30) - not withstanding that I'll probably be a little worse for wear with NYE celebrations - this may give you two a chance to keep up with me 8).

Actually, nice to have an excuse to escape the mess that will no doubt be left from my friends/family and hopefully come home to a clean house.

Happy New year everyone

Hi Wendy. A bit of a hot one last Sunday, made worse by New Years celebration hangover. So cooler weather this Sunday will be welcomed (and of course every thing crossed for sub 30 degrees on the 15th).

Tony, Kim and I are planning to come into the city this Sunday for an 8.00 am start (all welcomed with meeting point at the bottom of Anderson St. Botanical Gardens).

Just bumping this one up.
As Michael said, we will meet at 8.00 a.m Sunday, bottom of Anderson St.
Thought we could do the same loop as last week (approx 15km) but with an option to add on and bring to about 20km for those interested in a little bit more.
See some of you there

I'm making a big effort to get to this one!

Haven't run with CR's in a (too) long time.

Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.

If you guys are running 15km I may do some before as I want a longish run of around 25km.

Hope to see you at 8am.

Nice to hear from you Dave and look forward to catching up.

I think you'll find that a 20k training run is planned by the main group for the day. Me being the exception as I'm in taper mode for 'TwoBays' the following Sunday. Hence the reference to 15k's (TB looks after me).

So if you run a lap of the Tan before or aft you'll be in the ball park for 25.

Hi,

Just wanted to check: is this a close group of friends or can anyone join to run? What pace per km are the runs usually? sounds like fast....
I wanted to run in a group on weekends but most runs i read about were not happening close to Tan or  Albert Park; as I have no car, don't want to travel much for a run.

So these runs start at Anderson str which is ok, where do they end?

Thank you

All are welcome to join us.
There's a few regulars and others who come along once in a while.
Pace varies depending on the slowest person, sometimes we splinter off into a couple of groups.
We always finish off back where we started at the bottom of Anderson St and go for a coffee and a chat afterwards.
Why not come along for a run?

Hi Lunaa, welcome to Coolrunning.
These running groups are informal and for all abilities.  The faster runners will usually stop and wait for the slower ones, usually next to a drink fountain.  Your pace isn't too bad, at the moment I would struggle to maintain that.  Unfortunately I wont be there as my wife and I are planning a good look at the Two Bays trail.  Actually it's been a long time since I joined in for one of these-I'd better change that soon!

Yes you had.

Lunaa - feel free to come along, we haven't lost anybody yet, and as Wombat said, if we do split, we normally regroup, generally near a drink tap.
This week there will be a few options, I think there are cut out points for around 12,15 and 20km runs.

No worries lunaa.
Not sure what will be happening next week, I'm away for the weekend and Luckyguy has 2 bays trail run.
Keep your eye on this thread though, because we do run most weeks, so even if we don't get next weekend, we will be back sometime.

Yes, it was a bit humid yesterday, Michael though a nice run with good numbers turning up with two new faces, Jutta and Ben's friend (can't remember the spelling). Tania and I ran 15 and we got back to the cafe just before the heavy downpour.

I won't be in next Sunday but hope to be up for 20+ on the 29th. I'm sure Tony will post as the day draws nearer.

Big thanks to everyone for getting out there yesterday!

It was a great run - I ended up with 24km - and managed to chat to most of the group at some stage.

My lack of pace wasn't too much of a hinderance as the group was kind enough to wait for me at drink stops!

But the best bit was the coffee and chat afterwards - brilliant!

Don't know when I'll get back there (I have a crazy schedule) but to anyone thinking of running with the group, the advice & experience is priceless so just do it.

Good luck to the 2 Bays guys this weekend.

Dave

Anybody good for a Tiger Loop of about 20kms this Sunday. 8.00a.m. start bottom of Anderson St.
I'll be there, hoping a few of the regulars will be too, plus any new people that fancy a run with us are welcome.

Frankie - there could be a couple of others from 2bays running this week as well, so i think the pace may be somewhat conservative.

Tony I will be there at 8am at the bottom of Ando.

You will also see me on Saturday at Box Hill.

Frankie - I cannot imagine how heavy the legs would be after 2 Bays but I would love to run with you while I debate what the best album of the 80's was.

The legs feel quite good, Slept in my ''skins'' on Sunday and Monday night. Last night went for a swim at a friend's pool, i wll post a run report on the two bays thread. There was no hobbling around on Monday and Tuesday like after my very first Marathon   But still had sore legs, i guess it was a good idea to keep walking around once i had crossed the finish line of the 56km run.

See you on Sunday morning for a chat about 80s music and of course for a ''gentle'' run :)

OK, time for this weeks proposed run. Start 8.00a.m bottom of Anderson St. as usual.
Much the same loop as last week, but i thought we could stretch it out a little further to bout 23kms or so. Figured we could continue on from Dights up to Heidelberg Rd then straight back along Yarra Bend Rd etc.
This means that there is still the option of turning back at Dights as per last weeks Tiger Loop, but we can also have the Tiger Loop + which just gives those extra couple of kms.
Figured that as we had a couple of people training for upcoming marathons we need to extend them a little bit.
Any takers?
P.s. - if anyone else has ideas/thoughts etc. about a proposed run, feel free to jump in. I'm happy to come up with these runs, but happy to follow if someone wants something different.

If you time it right, you can join us at the track on Heidelberg Road for some speedwork.  You just need to be there at 9:30 :)

Oh no, we can't do that to Grechy can we  ;)

I'll be running a couple laps of the Tan 1st.

See you at 8 (might be another warm one).

Hi, I am going to see if I can do a quick run tomorrow without any injury flare-ups....if i can, I will come on Sunday...
If there will be lots of people on the tan...wouldn't Albert park be a better option?
