Today was my first proper training set for about a month and wow I felt terrible. I have been on a downhill spiral since the Mebourne Half Marathon where my eating and training have been very ordinary to say the least(+5kg worse). I need to make a stand and get the eating/training balance back to where it was in 2011.
It's easy to pike on the healthy eating, consistant training thing alone so lets band together. Hopefully with a bit of support on here we can help keep each other on the wagon.
So who's in??

A holiday in November where I didn't train much and had a bad deit followed by a problem with my ankle and the holiday over indulgence period means I'm behind the 8 ball.
I've pulled my km's right back to 30 per week and will slowly build again trying to keep the ankle happy along the way with a view to running my first half at the SMH half in Sydney with the help of some cross training on the bike and in the pool.
I need to concentrate on my diet though and lose about 5kg's.

I'm still restricted to swimming and bike riding (although I am sneaking in a run here and there) for another week or two, but losing the weight will definately help with the injury (being a bigger runner has probably helped cause the injury). I'm committed to losing 4kg by Feb 11th - the Falls Creek Half Marathon.

feeling fat, bloated, and need cake and beer...(am I due a man period?)
I got my Camelbak Octane 24 3l for crimbo and just ordered a pair Salomon XA Pro from the website we are not allowed to mention.
So now there is no excuses that I cant compete in Perths trail series this year.
I'm also going to start to run to work, not the whole 60km, but I'll get off the train at Canning Bridge and run the last 8 1/2km.

Between being off running for several months last year with pf and the recent overeating season, I definitely have 5kg to lose.
Looking to be meaner and leaner by Feb!

I too suffered at the hands of the Darryl Lea Nougat pudding, plus all the other cake, lollies, ham, and turkey that my family kept insisting I eat.

6Kgs overweight in November, lost a kilo in the first month then added 4 over Christmas.
Now I'm back in the saddle? (you know what I mean) and pumping out the k's.
Off for my first BBQ Stakes today at lunchtime. 34 degrees should make me sweat some of that sugar/cider out of the system

I will donate 2.0 kg to the cause, gained over 3 weeks leading up to Christmas/New Year. Mrs Turtle is joining me with her 2.0kg.
We both started last night with the first decent meal for 2 weeks. Then we both went running this morning on our own seperate programs, 12 km for me and 6 km for Mrs T.
Best wishes to all.

I have had 6 months of inconistent training since birth of my second daughter, 6 months old now and still not sleeping. but enough is enough.
Was off for a week over christmas and got 2 good runs in before new years. I got my first run of the new year in yesterday morning, a slow 7km at 05.00am, it felt great to be up and running again. The trick now is to back it up tomorrow morning with another one.

Had another decent run yesterday but had a bit of a stitch which stopped me halfway. Legs are struggling but I put that down to a weight's sesion earlier in the week and a bike ride on the weekend.
A swim tonight to make sure that little injury doesn't flare up again.
Diet still going well.

Difference since last week: 0kg
Had another 'festive season' day on Wednesday which blew away any progress I had made in the previous few days. Meant to be another 'catch up' tonight, and a BBQ on Sunday... then surely it is over for the year??

You better not....
Dropped .5kg since we started this. Showed up at training this morning before checking my schedule and one of the emails sent out by the coach to find out the session had been cancelled, I was kind of happy cause I'm in a world of hurt after yesterdays hill session.

Having a birthday between Christmas and New Year and being well known as a chocoholic meant being inundated with boxes of chocolates by well-meaning relatives who couldn't think of anything else to give me....have now cleared all this backlog (I find it easier to get through chocolates as fast as possible to get them out of the house...) and will not be buying more.
Now it only remains to wean myself of Coke (my guilty summer pleasure) and back onto mineral water and the readout on the scales should improve.
I'm running and/or swimming each day, and particularly running hills and intervals, so the weight should start to melt off....
Good luck everyone!

Big week ahead though, 70+ kms and a bike ride on my shiny new christmas present to myself.

Haven't gone near the scales yet so will starve myself today and jump on tonight. Even if no weight loss I am still happy I managed 2 morning runs this week despite sleep deprivation torture!!
Still got a whole bunch of christmas goodies left in the cupboard so I think I will make a big push to consume all this weekend and build up the energy for 4 runs next week..!

Another slow 6km's this morning, legs are super lethargic for some reason.

Starving yourself for a day will do more harm than good. Getting back into a proper eating routine is the best way to reduce weight and maintain the loss. Anyway who are you really fooling?

Today is 66. Bought some protein powder to fill the bottomless pit, hopefully next Friday I'll be down on the scales!

Looking back on last year I see that I maintained my lowest weight when injured for 2 months - probably because I was careful with what I ate for that time.
Time to exercise some restraint. Ok, I confess to, on regular basis, recovering from my long run with a coke and vanilla slice. Perhaps some better choices need to be made.

was deff kidding myself, didn't manage to starve myself for even 4 hours as someone decided it would be a good idea to have pizza for lunch at work..yummy!
Thats OK I rarely put on weight fro one good meal anyway, proper eating routine for me starts tomorrow, honestly.

We did a weigh in this morning, Mrs T dropped 0.4kg, me 0.5kg in a bit under a week, this is a very good result. We can both conclude we feel SO much better, back eating better and exercising. Lots of common sense food choices and gearing up our own running programs seems to be working.
Weight: Its easy to put on, and hard to sustainably take off!
Best wishes to all, lets all keep going and get our own personal targets sustainably.

I put on 12KG early last year on holiday, took off 7 now have put on another 4kg. leaving me a grand total of 9kg bigger than my clothes!!
I ran the full Melb Marathon last year and hoped that training for this would help me shed some weight, instaed it just made me hungry and tired.
I am starting today to adopt a healthy eating plan and try to get back into running etc. Since the marathon I have found that my legs feel like lead and I still seem to be tiring easily. How long does it take to get over....I thought it wouldn't have much effect as I run so slowly (5hrs 24)
Any info greatly received
will give results of weigh in on Friday
Good luck everyone

Mr T, not good news about your knee. Hopefully it is nothing serious and you will be back running after a couple of days rest.
I Managed to get a run in yesterday evening to make up for the one I missed in the morning, but alas my scheduled run for this morning was again missed due to lack of sleep. Looks like my morning schedule is moving to an evening schedule at least until my daughter learns how to sleep a bit better.
