What's your favourite way to keep the km's going while beating the heat?

Awesome ! .. I'm aiming for 200 for January as well, so far 142 and feeling strong. Pretty hot this week in Albury, sticking to shady forest trails when possible. Canberra weather sounds great, most jealous!

On the upside I'm loving the feel of my new Merrell Mix Masters

I have been purely base building but today did a tempo run for the first time in over a month, and including a warm up came within 80 seconds of my 10 km race PB... must be time for another race
P.S. As for heat, it's never hot at 6 AM here, I'd assume the same holds in Albury! 17C and a lovely breeze here this morning. Headed for a top of 33.

On track so far with only 8 days to go. My runs tend to be at 05.00 am or in the evening depending on sleep the previous night. For those hot summer evenings I just run a little slower, sweat more and stop at the water fountain.

Did some 1k intervals @20-40 secs slower than my 1k pb, which felt great... best set of intervals I have done... anyway set off for my long run a couple of days later and only managed about 6k till my hammie cramped.
Has taken about a week to recover and costed me about 60k from my goal for the month, might still be able to scrap through with 200k but not sure... any pretty sure it will still be my best Jan on record so happy with that.

I'm actually enjoying the heat at the moment; much easier to get up and run when it's warm and sunny outside rather than when it's cold and raining

January is a tough month for running in Adelaide with mid to high 30's each day. Had to do a 26km long run yesterday morning (28 degrees when I started at 8am and 34 degrees when I finished at 10am). Still keeping up with the ks though and averaging about 80-90km per week, which is ahead of the 3660km goal for the year (after 3467km last year).

PB for my run home from the Sydney CBD (11km) is 54 flat, 3 January I did this in 1:12, then 1:03 the week after, then 59:25 last week, then 57:30 tonight.
I once laughed when a triathlete friend of mine said getting off the beers would do wonders for your running. I'm now seeing the light after abstaining from booze since January 2.
Still a work in progress, with a couple more kilos to drop, but feeling good about the year ahead after the purge.
