Just noticed that this year, not only will there be the usual 12km run, but there has now also been included a half marathon.  http://www.baytobay.org.au/

Well a HM does sound interesting but I do enjoy the 12k race though. Will keep an eye on this one. Love a local event

Does anyone know when the entries open? I've got family up that way so I might turn it into a weekend trip. :)

This thread is starting early :)

This is a super event - really great community atmosphere. The last couple of times that I've done it, I've trotted back to Woy Woy afterwards to make it 24km. My pace on the return leg has been glacial compared to the first leg, but it's been a nice way to round out the day.

The HM option sounds good but I see the course isn't on the web site yet.

Slowmo, they have the half marathon course up on the site now. Love the Bay run, time to find a way in my hectic life to squish time back in for running.

Thanks Tamaelia. So it's the 12km course with a bit extra at top and tail.

I've really enjoyed the 12km course in the past but think I'll take up the option of the half this time.

I am pretty excited, I have decided to start a real training plan with a goal of running my first half. It will be slow but I plan to be there at the end :)
Wish me luck!

Can anyone tell me where this half ends? I can't really tell from map.It looks like both races end near the sea scouts hut.
Actually,I have just checked website. It has been updated since I last looked. Pioneer park at Point Fredrick.Very scenic

This is no official answer, but I think you will find that both races start and finish at the same spot.

The middle section of the half is the 12km course, the extra distance of the half is achieved by running in the opposite direction for 3.x at the start, and 1.x at the finish.

12km for me this year, hoping for sub 44 !

Signed up for the half marathon. Hopefully be ready for a go at sub 90 too. This would get me to the finish in perfect time to watch the winners of the 12km race come in.

If you want to do the half and haven't entered, you need to do it TODAY

No rush if you want to do the 12km, something about having the right size shirts I think

The following from one of the organisers

Quote

Just to let you all know, we have extended entry to the Bay to Bay Half-Marathon right up to the 13th June, you just don't get a T-shirt if you didn't enter before last Sunday. On Monday we had 398 entered into the half, so fingers crossed for 500.

The half course is a flat, fast and certified; in my opinion, definitely a PB course if you want to have a crack.

The FAQ says

Quote

Can I get a lift to the start before the race

There is limited transport from the finish to the start between 5.30am & 7.00am

There is also the option of catching a train. Woy Woy station is pretty close to the start, Gosford station is maybe 1km from the finish.

You could always run slowly back to the start, that's what I normally do, still plenty of time to make the presentations usually. Even better is to park about 4km from the start at Koolewong, gives you 4km warmup, then you only have to run 8km back to your car at the finish.

12km is enough running for me :-)

I have to take off straight after anyway. I guess I will park at the end and see if I can score a lift to the start. When they say transport do they mean like a bus? How has it been in previous years. I caught a bus at the Hill to Harbour this year in Newcastle and that was ok.

Yeah, pretty sure it has been a mini-bus, like 20 seater in previous years.

What great weather it ended up being.  I went up to Woy Woy yesterday and stayed in a motel overnight and given that the rain looked set in yesterday and continued during the night, was surprised to wake to a glorious morning.  As usual, a well organised event and organisers always so friendly and supportive.  I was struggling getting up and down the stairs to the motel due to knee problems so was surprised that I managed to get through the run.  Thankfully this is a relatively flat run, though my time was worse than last year.  Results online http://www.multisportaustralia.com.au

I ended up running 51:38 for the 12km. Was hoping to go a bit quicker to be honest. Sub 50 was what I had in mind. Got a HM in 2 weeks on the gold coast. Not sure what time I should be gunning for there now.

What a great morning. It was good to see the stars out on the way down in the car.

A really enjoyable run, well organized, nice amount of people.

I went out trying to break 100mins in the half. Then it turned out that someone put a small, albeit cruel hill just after the 18k mark. Despite a desperate sprint finish I got over the line in 100mins 01seconds!

Well done to the organizers, this will be in my calendar next year.

I was thinking the same thing as I drove to Woy Woy at 6am. Was a perfect morning for a race.

Big thank you to all the Terrigal Trotters (and other volunteers) who gave up their time to put on the Bay to Bay :Applause: . The organisation was seamless and the course was a treat to run on. I hope the half marathon is here to stay in the future, should only get bigger with such a scenic quick course.

Managed a PB of 54:47 which is one minute fasted than 2 years ago. A glorious day for such an event. Not too many people and the paper cups at the drink stations? Awesome as easy to drink out of. Should be mandatory at every event.

Might have a crack at the HM next year but the PC GCM called for a 10k race or a 2 hr run. No brainer.

It was so beautiful running around the water.  I didn't do my sub 90  8-(  I am a bit disappointed, but the ankle I sprained rather badly 3 weeks prior, really packed in about 16km mark.  I am still trying to work out where I lost those 3 mins.  Its so annoying when your head wants to go but your legs won't take you!!  The supporters were awesome - great drinks stops...could have done without the hill and out/back at the end though  ;-)

Missed you at the start SevenKale, sorry to hear you weren't 100% at the race. Makes your top 5 female finish impressive though. Hopefully you make it back next year for a proper go at it. The hill wasn't big, but it made it very hard to end with a kick.

I quite like the new shirt, great colours and a new design. I've got all the weekdays covered now :)
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what year TTs started giving out the Tshirts and what colour they were?
My earliest one is the black 2008.

I am reliably told this years colour was grape !

No, not purple, grape !

It would be interesting to know colours ... why don't you start with the ones you have and we can try and fill in the blanks

Before the bay to bay there was the bay to breakers so the shirts go back a long way past 2008. In those days if memory serves me correctly they were always grey, but had different coloured print each year.

I think I have both a white and grey bay to breakers (I've been around a while) !

The Gosford to Terrigal and Terrigal to Gosford were great runs.

I also liked the Ridgeway Roller Coaster

I heard a rumour that seeing the half marathon was so well received that the idea of a marathon has been mentioned !

Ok so prior to 2004, there were Bay to Breakers shirts which were grey, possibly some white ones.
Then from 2004 we have the Bay to Bay

2004:
2005:
2006:
2007:
2008: Black
2009: Navy blue
2010 Green
2011: Light blue
2012: Purple (grape)

There would have to be a number of Bay to Bay 'legends' out there with the complete collection.

We also have other colours such as yellow and orange which volunteers wore to distinguish themselves from runners each year.
