Hopefully I'll be able to get along to the half this year.  For the last few years I've been running the Kokoda Challenge, but not this year!  I'm crewing!

Loved the 10km last year - posted PB at the time.  Unfortunately, committed to GCM this year and won't be able to play again.

One of the best events in SEQ, will do something there again this year, probably 10km. Looking forward to it.

Great event.  I am thinking I am not going to make the GCM this year so I might give the half a shot.

Heartbreak Hill!!!  pfffffttt.  Hardly meets the requirements of a hill.  Grant - are you getting soft?!

Hey, don't knock the 3k! Run properly, it can be hard! And that Heartbreak Hill is an absolutely killer - it almost puts the Hard Rock 100 to shame ;-)

I did a PB there after competing in the GCM. Its a great run to refresh the weary legs.
Run hard and enjoy.

Ive noticed "trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Male and Female placegetter's" & no sign of age placegetters getting medallions like previous years???

Yes, I noticed that. I'll ask them. I've been happy to pick up an age group medal in previous years.

Did you notice that apostrophe man has gone crazy on that page? Including your quote.

Also this one: "Please note that Java must be enabled on your computer to enter via the Registration Software."

What's that all about? It makes no sense at all. No Java on my computer.

Quite. My point was that the page is very amateurish, in more than one way.

I wrote to the organisers. They replied promptly:

Quote

Prizes are as per last year.
There will be medals for all age group 1,2,3 that will be posted out after the event and trophies presented on the day for place getters

I've only run twice in the last 5 weeks for a max of 13kms total, so I'm just hoping this counts as a really, really good taper after TNF100! But seriously, I think that this year I'll be seeing the backs of many competitors as they zoom past :Tounge:

Doesn't matter though, as I just love the race and can't wait to get out there in a few weeks time!

Don't worry melliemellie, the hill isn't that bad. As long as you've been incorporating serious hill training for the last few months, you should be fine!

(Just joking!)

I have entered finally and am pumped for my favourite event for the year.  Got some unfinished business after a disappointing result at gc this weekend so fingers crossed I can turn it around a little and drop that 10k time some more and get back on track.

Linda I think our marathon experiences yesterday may have been on slightly different levels lol.  To be honest I got out of bed this morning the first thing I felt was my arms.  Boy they are sore.  Legs are a little tight but feel like they would after any hard 10k.  All in all a great experience though.  Was good catching up with you yesterday.

Haha you guys!! Now I am nervous!! I've done quite a bit of running in the area & haven't come across too many hills?

Was stoked to read today that there are pace markers in the 10k so will be aiming for a fast run!

I never managed to run well with my abseiling gear.  Haha. Melliemellie - provided you monitor your effort the hills aren't too bad.  I ran a pb 10km last year, which I wasn't expecting due to the hills but found I picked up more on the down hills than I lost on the up...  Makes for a v.fast last km which is always a positive way to finish a run.  I'm regretting not being able to run this year.

i ran the 10K 3 mins and 20 seconds faster than I ran the same distance on the Gold Coast two weeks ago, so I'm pretty pleased :) It's my PB now.

I wasn't prepared for the hills though. They're only slight, but I'm not used to hill running!!

Good enough race. Loved the second half of it, running along the bay.

Enjoyed the run,  my 1st J2J.  About 1 min off my pb but solid result overall.  Just missed top 10 in my age.

I'll be back.

Well I had an interesting morning! Got to the start just in time for the announcement that there was just over 5 minutes to the start until my race (the 3k). Did a bit of stretching and then made my way to the start-line and then, a minute later, we were off. As usual, I got stuck behind a lot of kids and slower runners but made it past the 1k mark in 3:30, as planned. Got to the turnaround at 1.5k... and then watched as everyone kept running past. I turned to the runner next to me, asked if he was doing the 3k and was told no, the 5k! Sure enough, I was running in the 5k race :Rolling Eyes: I didn't know what to do so I just ran back to the start and then started the whole race again with everyone else. Made it home a minute slower than last year but 8th overall, so overall I'm happy enough with that. I learnt a very important lesson though!

As usual, everything was well organised and there was a great vibe. Thanks to the MBRRs and everyone else who contributed, it was fantastic!

Cheers,

MUN.

It was my first jetty to jetty, and overall a well organised and fun event.
Ran the 3km and it went well, i am steadily improving, and pleased to finish 6th overall.
Will be back next year.

Doh!!!!

All the races were 10min late due to a timing error, when MUN started his post with they were lined up when I got there I thought his storey might head the way it did... bugger.

The irony is that I live just 5 minutes walk away, so I of all people shouldn't have had issues with start times! Ah well, I had a good laugh about it

It did make me have a lot more sympathy for pros who mess up their races though, eg jumping the gun in sprints, miscounting laps etc!

I did 44:37 at Gold Coast 10km, had to stop do up my shoes.then threw up mid way and at the end..

Did the J2J this time I was not sick so it was better. I'd done a hard speed workout on the Thursday before the race, 12x400's and I was not completely recovered from that. Anyway, I took off feeling ok, was cruising on about 4min pace, and I fell over at about 4.7km in to the race.

Flat road
Straight road
No one near me to trip me
No wind
No cats
No dogs

I literally let nothing get in my way and fell over it.

Ended up finishing 43:43, just under 1min quicker than at the GC a couple of weeks ago. The last 5km were a struggle, initially most of it was in trying to loosen up my left knee that I had scraped badly and bashed into the ground.

Its a good sign I can 'improve'  a little in just two weeks and there is more to come, definately faster thn the 43:43 I did... I have only been running in decent training since March, so I am happy enough.

Next rac the Brisbane Running festival really looking forward to that - Hoping for a little better than a 1 minute improvement this time   :)
