Echo absolutely all sentiments already expressed on this thread. My friends and i still went ahead with our annual trip to the mountains, still went for a run Saturday, an out and back on the Woodford to Glenbrook route (Oaks f/t). Our weekend was maybe more enjoyable without the threat of impending pain hanging over us but at no time did we feel the cancellation was the wrong decision. Anyone who saw the (i think) Australian story a few weeks ago featuring one of the young women caught in the WA 100KM fire couldn't help but be certain that cancellation was the right thing to do. Thanks Colin & all involved, see you next year MC

... and another thing, when the 1999 Rotorua Marathon was cancelled (we were on the start line) organisers sent us out shirts and medallions afterwards, overstamped with 'rained out'. A great souvenir. Happy to give RFS all entry money but would love the merch

Another big thank you Colin, and especially thanks for putting on the smc marathon qualifier back in January to help get a number of us very late qualifier hopefuls up to the starting line. As if you weren't busy enough already !

Thanks Col. 2012 Shirt and cap arrived last night. Will be giving them a test run around the Botannical Gardens today. Somehow they seem a bit more special than the others, given we didnt actually achieve anything to get them....sort of like a secret club!

Have t-shirt now must earn it........
Still wonder if anything will be in place for 2012 runners for entering 2013......Or dare I ask?

You dont have to wait till december to find out!! I guarantee you, you will get entry as long as you have a qualifying time and register quickly when entries open. I just hope you are fast enough!
