Is anyone interested in doing some kind of run on Sat 10th March now that 6ft has been cancelled? Most forestry areas will be bogholes so maybe trying to avoid them. Dave Robbo did a section of the GNW last weekend which sounded interesting & maybe an out & back on that track would be interesting. Start at Newcastle out to Teralba & back to newie then dip in Nobbys followed by beer o'clock at the Brewery or Great Northern (=46km)? Happy to try anything & distance can be whatever.

Cheers,
Grahame

Grahame,

I'm in the process of cancelling my hotel booking down at Katoomba, as it sounds like the Blue Mountains will be no place to run on Saturday.
So count me in for a 45km jaunt in lue of Six Foot.

Let me know when / where.

Cheers,

OK all, this looks like a goer. The 2012 Six Foot DNS Fat Ass lives. 7-7:15am gather for 7:30am start from Newcastle Ocean Baths carpark (there's a shelter or 2 near the kiosk). I have a couple of google maps printed from Dave Robbos run last weekend to guide us if you're like me & wouldn't know the route. Dave Robbo is still hoping to weave some magic & join us but he'll have to be like the wife whisperer on that beer ad otherwise he'll be house hunting.

I'm not planning on any water drops out on the course but there is an endless supply of taps along the way.

If we do Daves full run out & back that's about 46km but being out & back will allow for anyone to shorten that distance if they want to suit their own training program.

Finish off with a swim, shower, beer or all 3 if that suits.

First official Fat Ass I've ever done so don't really know the protocols but happy for any advice.

See you there. All welcome

All the hype and comments on here about the 6 Foot DNS Run has got me fired up, so am hoping to be there.

I figure we will be covering a fair bit of territory along the way, and will can say we looked at a few houses...!
So, am hoping to be there around 7am tomorrow. Sounds like you guys might need some help with directions anyway...!

Here is a link to the event we held last Saturday, http://www.facebook....67978306553376/ which includes the map of the course, and details about the fundraising cause we supported - feel free to get involved with that if you're keen.

Also, here is what FAT ASS is all about (not many protocols at all...)

Hope to see you there. Will be 'naked' & wearing a white headband.

I'm sure everyone's as disappointed as I am with the cancellation of Six Foot, but this could turn out to be a great substitute.

Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow and plowing through the KMs on the DNS Fat Ass.

See you tomorrow morning around 7am, I'll be the one in the camelback...

Hi
I ended up doing the pikers section finished at teralba caught a train from there
Given the late notice of the run a good turn up would like to see more runners with similar abilities
Thanks CR for organizing it and the runners for the day out
had a good day
All the best
Lou

PS
The way they ran up the hills and stairs at the start i thought it was a 10km run no way I could have stayed with them
well done scott

Boys,

Great run today, shame about six foot but in it's place to be able to meet a whole bunch of enthusiastic runners in Newcastle rates highly.

Simon set the pace from the outset, but forgot to tell the rest of us he was calling it a day at Teralba... damn deceptive road runners!

Scotty... mind if i rip those shots and post them up on my blog www.outandbackblog.com?

Robbo... going to hold you to the GNW challenge, get your 100km game face on.

Keen to get out there again some time post Melbourne Ironman in 2 weeks, perhaps we can run from station to station as we all seemed to drop of at various point on the way back.

Thanks again all...

Had a great morning meeting & running with a great bunch of enthusiastic runners. Cheers guys once again Grahame, Scotty, Adam, Dunk, Simon, Louis de Fly & Osmo.

I've posted some pics up on The Naked Runners FB page - Dunk feel free to use any of these for your blog as well mate.

Will get the video of the 'treacherous' water crossing posted also.

Felt a bit slack pulling out at Warner's Bay as was pretty busted, but was able to tend to some house-hunting duties after the run to keep everyone happy!

Will definitely have to catch up again soon for another run. Stay tuned...

Robbo

Great run yesterday guys. Hope everyone has pulled up OK & Robbo's injury is minor. Thanks to the "support crew" who had some ice cold drinks at the finish, much appreciated. Thanks for the pics too. Adam was the only one to finish the full 56 or so km, so congratulations to him for a massive effort, well done. Yours truly decided that 45km was more than enough & pushed through some weariness to finish in a steady jog. As I went past Merewether Beach I saw a larger lady eating hot chips &, as weary as I was, I still managed a smile, each to their own I thought. Robbo, Simon, Scott, Duncan, Lou & Justin all completed various distances up to a marathon which other runners & non-runners would die to be able to even contemplate doing. Some speedwork early by the quicker guys left Lou & myself pushing steadily along as sweepers. With the weather warming up as the day progressed but the ground wet underfoot in many areas it proved to be a tough run but a reasonable alternative to 6ft. There wasn't the hills we would have expected at 6ft but it certainly used up any carbo-loading from the days leading up, which was what we wanted wasn't it??. Well done everyone & hopefully we can organise some trail runs over the coming months. I'm sure a few of us will catch up at Newcastle Cross Country on Sat 31st March.
Cheers Grahame

Robbo, forgot to ask you about the house hunting. You will need to give us married guys some hints on "wife whispering"
