So I'm out this morning, 1 hour into a 28km run and suddenly I'm aware of movement down to my left. I look down, and find a small dog has decided to join me for a run. It's 6am Sunday morning, and the streets are empty. The dog has no collar, so I assume it's a stray. Didn't know what to do.  So I run along for a while, expecting it will get bored/tired and leave me to it, but no, it just stays by me trotting along very happily. Now, I'm currently on quiet back streets, but concerned about the main road I'll soon be turning onto so started to wonder what I ought to do.  So I pick up the pace, expecting that such a small dog would soon get tired of a fast run, but no, it's still there. Covered about 2km now, and getting frustrated, not wanting the poor thing to get out on a busy road, I pick it up and leave it in the first fenced front yard I come to.  Nice little surprise for someone on Sunday morning. Didn't know what else to do.

Anyone else had a surprise companion join them for a run?

:)

Had that in Buenos Aires - was running in the ecological wetlands and some massive hairy dog-like creature decided it wanted to go for a run too. Joined for about four kilometres before it decided it had better things to do and disappeared into the bush.

Yes random dogs following on a run not always handy. Had one once that followed me onto a busy highway grrr ended up having to turn around and take it back to the owners house they thought it was funny I was not so impressed it threw my whole run out of whack having to backtrack and muck around with some dog.
