The BK express train has blown a gasket! Well a calf to be precise... 0k for the last 3 weeks and a DNS for this one and probably challenge as well. Back in Oz Friday so the road to bunbury starts Saturday... Already missed my favourite half and now the fastest 10k .. ! If the calf is fully recovered I have 5 HARD weeks ahead of me... Wouldn't have it any other way....

Good luck to all on this one..

Keep running (but not til Saturday) bk

I'm in for this one, second race for the year and hopefully no stopping in this.

BK sorry to hear about the calf, hope it's a swift recovery and we see you in Bunbury running hard as ever.

Hi - This is my 1st Bridges Run - really looking forward to it - just sort of getting over a knee injury. Any tips of where to park  or transport suggestions? i live in Claremont & could probably park at Matilda Bay- just don't really want to walk from there before the race - (don't really mind walking back).

If you run there from Claremont, run the 5km event, then the 10km event and home again, it's a good 31km hit-out and you save the planet at the same time!

Im a non-starter for this. Not quite back to full health so a race would be a little stupid, though I do excel at being a little silly sometimes :)

I'd also entered the Bunbury 'Gnome Run' half marathon on the same day (both compulsory pre-register events) and was due to decide on saturday which I was going to race. Looks like I double wasted my money. There's that silliness again....

Should be right, I notice they charge you $5 for a replacement if you leave your bib at home, so they must have some spares on the day if mine is lost in the mail.

Finally a 10k pb! Perfect running conditions today, couldn't have asked for a better morning. Hope everyone else had a good race.

Very well organised, a couple of newbie runners were commenting on how good it was so well done to you Bones.

Congratulations PBers!!!

Was nice to be starting AND finishing on Riverside Drive again this year...
47.00 for me (by wristwatch) 5k splits 22.35/24.25....Best since 2005, so I'm pleased...a little disappointed in my second 5k...but a good way to start my 10k racing for the year and was very happy with my first 2-3km...and last 1km was ok...
16 years of tradition for me...Not sure what happens next year with the waterfront and everything...last year they said it wouldn't happen this year but it has, guessing its probably the last one in the current type of loop format...that will affect the City to Surf Marathon course too....
had a good day today thanks WAMC.

Yep. Another great day for it, and well organised by WAMC.  1:30 lower than last year, but wrapped with that since training has been severely disrupted by work committments since Rotto in October.

Only downside was that presentations were a bit anticlimatic and drawn out since so many had left (including many place getters).  Something probably needs to be done for the bigger events to remedy this if possible - either bring forward (perhaps a little unfair to people still on course) or provide some enticement for people to hang around (eg. finish area entertainment and/or arrangement with a catering company to promote and sell breakfasts under cover).  Obviously we wouldn't want event costs to become inflated as a result.  Ideas anyone?

Great event, thanks to the WAMC

This was my first go at this one and has been on my bucket list.

Last minute entry - 3pm saturday decision, i realised i was
1. staying at the Hyatt
2. had no significant injuries
3. could jog for an hour or more

So despite not actually doing any speed training (and only two runs in the fortnoght before) I jumped in.

I set myself a goal a few new years eves ago that i would like to be fit enough to run 10k - anytime, so here was my test!.

I made it a challenge by running it to a target of a bit over an hour  but hard enough so i didnt have a soft PB for my next 10k.
About 1.10 on the clock maybe a little under on the timer.

Thanks to all the great helpers - see you next year for a sub 60minute

Well done to everyone who took part in both events.

I just wondered if anyone thought the 10km course was a little long?  When I crossed the finish line my GPS said 10.54kms??

Thanks

My GPS read 10.1  which is pretty normal for a 10km event.   I figured I zig-zagged a bit throughout the race.

10.1 for me too - and again I tend to gain 10m per k due to my exhausted stagger along the course

Thanks guys.  I was kind of hoping that my GPS was right as I would have had a PB yesterday for the 10k....Do you use an app on your phone or a GPS watch?  I have both but stopped using my Garmin and started using the app.  Just wondering if I should switch back?

I use a Garmin 910 which I find pretty accurate.   I have tried my GPS on my phone but found it hard to get a good signal and heavy on the arm.   I find the garmin will usually reads 10m shorter per km

The winner did it in 31:30 and the womans records was missed by only 2 seconds.   That tends to make me think the course was probably accurate.   Also they do say it's "AA" certified by athletics australia not that I know what the hell that actually means.....

10 minutes better than last years bridges, and 4:10 off my last 10k race from late last year

http://connect.garmi...tyId2=163621510

I went out looking for 52-53 so I'm pretty happy with 51:18.

Garmin gave me 10.08km.

Thanks Langfi for the feedback.  Well done rgvlee that's awesome!  I think I did it in 50.16 mins which I'm pretty happy about....would have been stoked to get under 50.  Think I'll make the transition back to my garmin, seems more accurate.   Thanks again guys.

Another awesome event, thanks to wamc.
Never realized how huge this event was! Road PB of 34.12 thanks to some great competition :)
Garmin says 10.03 which is pretty spot on
Hoping they still have the event next year, even if they modify it a bit

First time doing the event yesterday.
I set myself a goal of sub 50 and was pretty happy with a 48:10 especially as I haven't really trained for the distance..
As usual I got caught up in the moment at the start and ended up with 22/26 split :-(

I had a great time and really enjoyed the course (I've never actually run the bridges like that before).

There won't be a NET time, only Gun time.  No timing mats at the start, sorry to say... ( I was on the front line and saw no mats, plus heard a few comments regarding such... )

Still a great race and well put on by WAMC!

Yeah didn't see anything at the start but I did hear an announcement about mat to mat timing  Who knows - but I know the clock on the finish line matched my watch.

I think the announcement regarding the front Mat was just so all the people walking down towards the start didn't just turn around, start running and get in the way of the elites.    They have used those bibs at other events and there has only ever been timing mats at the end.

Noone - there was no start mat, so results are gun times only, however the clock at finish line should have shown your correct time.  I am pretty sure there is at least one mistake in the results.  Tina Major finished ahead of me but is shown about 30sec behind me on the results sheet.  I have pointed this out to WAMC, and suggest you give them a call, and no doubt they will reissue a corrected version.

Not the end of the World either way. Good run and a PB regardless.

I think the mat to mat announcement was Evan's way of saying "hurry the **** up", and I remember at the time that I hadn't seen a start mat.

Wonder if Dashphotography might shed some light.Posted Image

Then again, it might just be my Garmin virtual partner trying to trick me
