Hey guys
I was running in kayano or trance till end last year when i switched to ds trainers and loved them. But i want to find a much cheaper shoe for my budget.
So whats a good cheaper shoe that would be similar to the ds trainer. I was looking at new balance today online which seem to have a lot more cheaper models but no idea what would suit
And no im not going barefoot my eyesight doesnt allow me to spot things on the ground and funnily minimal shoes are really expensive you'd think they would be cheap.
I did try nike free which i liked running in but are too narrow and hurt the side of my foot even walking in them

If you are buying online, the DS Trainer is pretty good value at the moment.
I have a pair of mens DS Trainer 16 on the way for $85 delivered.

There are several NB models which might meet your needs, based on your previous good experience with the DS trainer, any of the 'cushioning' or 'moderate stability' models may be appropriate.
But as the DS trainer works for you, as TCMB said, you can do better than the $200-220 price in Australian stores. I know of a overseas site that has then around $130. PM me if you want the details.

i might go to rebel tomorrow and try on some different ones and see what fits. I have found ds trainers on ebay for under 100 in the us. But im still a bit wary of sending money though it says they are a good seller.
Its so stupid that the same shoe hwre is over 200. And i like the 16 havent tried the newest ones
Plus they are bright pink lol
will try some new balance tomorrow

I just think it's very wrong to go to a store, take their time and try on shoes, then leave without buying and buy them online.
Don't get me wrong, I get all my shoes online now; but because I have a brand (Mizuno) whose fit I'm happy with, and first bought from the guy who spent time with me going through brands and options.
I would have said that I only buy Loco now, but they're no longer available. So I bought all remaining stock in my size/model (Bandito)!

Bellthorpe, I don't think StellaC said she was going to try on at Rebel and then buy on line. In fact she indicated some disinclination to do that.
On another note, It'd be rare (for me) to get any useful or accurate info on a shoe from a Rebel salesperson. In fact I usually politely tell them I require no help with trying on shoes as I can adequately determine the fit and type of shoe myself. I research a potential shoe on the 'net (CR included) for possible compatability with myself, try on and purchase from a shop and then if savings are big enough, purchase from overseas any future shoes of that make/model.
At the moment I use NB 770 road shoes, I get them for around $110 at local stores as the overseas price is not usually significantly cheaper; Inov8 Roclite 295 trail shoes which are unavailable in Aust, so I obtain via the 'net from the UK; and sundry others both locally purchased and overseas ('net and physically) purchased.

yeah coz at rebel you can find soemone to help you lol. I always decline help because they try to sell you stuff and i dont want to be sold to. I know what im looking for. and i always put things away when i leave a store.
Anyway its not like rebel is some small owner operator. Its a bunch of kids working for a wage mostly they stand around talking.
I used to buy my shoes from a small sports store but i cant afford to pay 250 for a pair of running shoes. so unfortunately i wont shop there unless i see soemthing on clearance i can afford.

I used to love DS trainers too, but eventually went away from them because of the narrow toe section (leading to busted up toes/ lost toenails). . Lately I've been running in Adidas Adizero Tempos .. they are cheaper, but just as good (nice and light and well cushioned) and have a wider toe section.

I like to have a couple of pairs of runners the same so I will often buy one in a running store where I receive fantastic advice and if after a couple of weeks the shoe feels good, I will shop around online to find the second pair hopefully cheaper.
I know I should buy both pairs in store but I just can not afford two pairs of $250 shoes.

WEll i went into Rebel and tried on all the suggested shoes
place was cleaner when i finished than before i started i couldnt resist putting the shoes in size order for the next person lol
Anyway i didnt like any the mizuno was close but when i tried on the DS trainer it just fits so well. so after searching ebay and finding that with postage i wasnt going to save much maybe thats just my bad lookiing, but also they had 20% off i bought the New DS trainer 17.
Took them for a run today and know i made the right choice they just felt good. So im going to laybe another pair and pay them off over time so i dont notice the cost so much.
Now back to training
Just means i will have to wait longer to pay my race entry but hey i'd rather have shoes and be able to run than an entry to a race and no shoes lol
