If you're thinking about registering for Oxfam Trailwalker Sydney this year, this is your last chance! Registration closes in just over 3 weeks time on Friday 1 June.
Record holders, team 'Quality Meats' are back again this year, along with a few 'gun' teams who are hoping to break the trail record of 12:07 set in 2010. If you know 3 other people who have what it takes to tackle a 100km of bush trail and fundraise for Oxfam Australia, why not register a team and give the 'Meats' a run for their money!
When: 24 – 26 August 2012
Where: Brooklyn to Georges Heights, Mosman
Cost: $700 registration fee per team
If you're up for the challenge, visit the website and register your team today!

On behalf of a mate, he is seeking to join a team for this year's TW Sydney. Preferrably a team aiming for sub 24hours.
His background - We call him " Mr 100%" and thats because he shows up at EVERY SINGLE training run we had leading into last year's GreatNortWalk 100 miler which he completed in 32hours. An awesome bloke and would be a great culture fit into any team with no egos.
OUt to have fun but still focus on running too. He is capable of a sub 18hours time but wouldn't want to get to stress, hence opening his option to a 24hours team as well.
If you or know anyteam looking for a really cool (non-coolrunning) member, please send me a PM!
Cheerios
ps: he is based in Neutral Bay but happy to travel anywhere to train/meet with group

I was looking to add a post asking if anyone knows of someone who might like to join an 18 hour Trailwalker team and I saw the previous post. Is the person you mentioned on the message board still available/interested Buzz? I tried to pm you but got a message saying that you were not receiving any new messages. I might not have been logged in so I'll try again after this.
My team mates and I live in Newcastle but have a couple of visits to Sydney and the track in mind for the next couple of weeks and could meet your mate. Please pm me or send me a message on my mobile 0421 838821. We've had someone pull out last week and we are looking to improve a little on our effort from last year when we finished in 18 hours 22 minutes.

I have sent you a message outlining our details but now have the little internet explorer icon spinning continuously at me. I hope this doesn't mean the message has disappeared into cyberspace. Let me know if you don't get it.
Whilst I am posting, I would like to ask if it is just me or have things about Trailwalker Sydney been very quiet in this forum? I know that Trailwalker has its own blog but I seem to remember more about the event being discussed here last year.
Cheers

One member is running, another usually scabs a spot at the last minute, and as for Ourimbah, well, the less said the better !

..... we will be making our way to Chatswood for 4:40 am, and then taking early train to Hawkesbury River ...welcome to join us :-)
...you would have to find a way to Chatswood though, so doesn't really solve the lift problem....

I'm scared to know how many GUs it takes Johnbo to finish 100km after seeing how many were required at Kangaroo Valey.
I think he had six just in the car !

We were taking things easy and thought we going to have strong finish (aiming for 14ish), when Chris tossed his cookies. Spent the next 12km walking try whatever we could to finish as a full team. We were happy to walk it in, but he wasn't interested, so feeling pretty fresh after our walk ran well for the remaining two check points to finish in 15:29.
Impressive run by No Roads, especially Shona, quickest female time run on the course.
Enjoyed the day, great weather and I like the course, not sure I'm enjoying the leg pain now (why do I live in a house with steps), it was great to bump into a few people I haven't seen for a while.

Is Shona the most improved runner going around over the last few years??
Much tougher course than the last two years - the amended track at Bobbin head and lots of trees down........also how poor was the trail marking?? if i was doing the course for the first time i'd be seriously concerned!

I agree Tropic. I was surprised at how sparse some of the trail markings were, especially in the last section. If we hadn't done the course before I think we would have needed to reference a map a few times. When we got to the beach we are like "hmm, we will just follow these foot prints, we _think_ there is a footpath over there", and after you run past the restaurant and go towards the oval I didn't see any signs, again we knew the steps were in the far corner from memory and just headed in that direction.
I think the toughest part of the day was when Ourimbah and I carried all our gear up and down the stairs at Hornsby station, and AGAIN at Hawkesbury River.
