Tamsyn Manou 2:02.75 in the 800m
Lauren Boden 55.75 in the 400m hurdles

Augustine Choge won the 3000m in 7:30 with Bekele only 7th in 7:40.

Quick race, two guys under 3:30 - Gregson finished 11th with an A qualifier time! All 14 runners under the oly standard.

Going to be one tough race in London.

The fastest 1500m race run in May in any Olympic year. Not even the great El.G ran those winning times in May in an Olympic year. Will be a cracker of a race indeed, although tactics will surely stun the field to an almost jog in the final.

I watched the later version on TV and it was pretty bad that they cut out most of the 1500m Most of the 3K nad almost all of the Steeple.

It will be interesting to see how the races pan out in London as there will be multiple rounds no pacemakers and a lot more on the line.

Good to see Ryan Gregson get that qualifier,he is a special talent.
Also, let us not forget our less well sung heroes in the more technical events who have posted A qualifiers in recent days.
I mean our world class race walkers(another World bronze for Jarryd Tallent),shot putter/javelin thrower/pole vaulter.Great stuff.
The possible Olympic squad is growing.

It should also be noted that young Jordan Williamsz ran 3.36 for the 1500m in another meet, which is actually a B-Standard and getting very close to the A-standard. Will be interesting if he can just drop an extra second and get into the team!

Off the top of my head Lachlan Renshaw ran a 1:46:xx at the oxy high performance meet in the states (?) Apparently was a bit boxed and reckoned he could have gone quicker. Haven't seen the race yet.

Hopefully he'll post an A qualifier soon - I think (but could be wrong) he's running diamond league Monaco (?) I'll look into it tomorrow and correct if I'm wrong.

Renshaw got boxed, tripped up between 400m and 500m and also boxed again from 600m - 700m, winning in a fashion similar to his University Games victory. Looked great so yes, hopefully an A-qualifier is just around the corner for him.

Shanghai Diamond League Meet: Liu Xiang, the men 110m hurdler, won in pretty convincing fashion in I think 12.97 (Meet Record). Bekele also lost the 5000m, although only by a second or two, with 13.11 the victor. Dani Samuels also threw a SB in the discus is wet conditions.

TO NOTE: Haile Gebrselassie may be trying to make the 10 000m team, as he thinks he can run under 27! How great would it be to see Bekele and Haile run in one of the strongest 10 000m fields most likely to ever assemble at an Olympic Games.

I really hope so. He is improving so I am going to back him! Up the Aussies! Big meet in Eugene, I suggest everyone who is interested in Mid Distance running to check it out! Top fields assembled in both the male and female divisions. Either will be very fast or very tactical, either way should lead to exciting finishes

The Kenyans are actually having special 10,000m races for their olympic trials on soon. I think it is 8pm California time. Maybe in 2 hrs time?
Should be some fast times run if conditions are good.

Awesome run for Collis Birmingham with a PB in the 5000m, 13:10 and Mottram with a 13:34

It's all Mo Farrah though isn't it? World leading 12:56.98

Collis ran very well. Mottram is in a big bulk of training at Flagstaff at the moment, so he probably is a bit upset with the overall result but knows he will be running great on fresh legs.

Mo Farah, Rupp and co were just too strong over the last mile. Mo Farah dropped a 4.01 last mile with a 56 last lap, insane running and is going to take a big upset to beat him over the 5000m, and most likely the 10 000m at this rate as well. You slow the race down, Mo Farah kicks for longer. Fasten it up, he finishes with 4 minute mile pace!

In Oslo last night/this morning.

Sally Pearson won the 100m hurdles in an equal World Lead(her own from March) and a Meet Record 12:49.

Bekele was 5th in the 5000m in 13:00 just beaten by his brother.

Ryan Gregson was 10th in the mile in 3:53.62. Asbel Kiprop won in 3:49.22.

Very good meet. Weather worsened for the mile. Bekele beaten by four other Ethiopeans...expected to be a wildcard for the 5000m at this rate. Bolt wins 100m in 9.79, Powell 9.85...really thought Powell ran well, Bolt does not have the 100m in the bag that is for sure. Riseley a second quicker than Gregson, both ran well.

Wow that really would have been an amazing race to see!

What about he Men 110m Hurdles? Did you catch that? Cannot believe the amount of false starting, as well as athletes running under protest.

If they held a diamond league race in Australia; a) Would any of the top athletes want to travel here, and B) if they did, would australians go and watch?

Yep, some pretty frustrated and pissed off competitors in that one. Men's 200m also had a few false starts.

I sat with a few hundred Bob Marley lookalikes..........they sure love their running stars.

I thought Sally looked a bit tired and ragged.  Understandable, after the 30 hour travel and arriving only a day or two before the race.

She'll improve on that.

Nando most of the start lists have been released.  Rudisha running, as is Sally Pearson.

How is Rudisha supposed to get match practice for the Olympics?  No one can go with him.  Clearly, he'll take it out hard and control it from the front, like he did at World Champs last year. 3 others running at Paris who have run 1.43 this year, so he won't totally have it his own way.

No Mo Farah in the 5km, could be a race for the Ethiopians.  Mo doesn't seem to have raced much this year.

Word on the street is that Rudisha is going for the world record.

Is there any way to watch this without eurosports? Anyone ever tried a proxy server?

There were some very good performances overnight. There were some athletes missing after recent US Trials and Euro Chamionships.

Watched the lunchtime replay on Eurosports.

Our Sally smashed the field in the 100mtrs hurdles in 12:40, 0.0 wind reading.

Rudisha ran a fantastic 1:41:54. Renshaw ran 1:45:90 for 4th.

Men's 5000, 6 runners under 12:50.

Colin,

Try here http://www.letsrun.c.../paris-0706.php

Just highlights - Bekele is quoted as saying that he only wants to do the 10000m.

6 UNDER 12:50! wow.

So thats it for Renshaw then. No olympics.

Renshaw has run out of luck unfortunately. Rudisha confirmed that he is going to be hard to beat at the Olympics...you need to be capable of 1.41 to beat him. Rudisha literally ran that race in Paris by himself...his pacer was terrible (fast first 200m, too slow from 200m-350m and dropped out at 410m). Good to see Dani Samuels beating a very good field in the discus, and Jarrod Bannister rising above controversy to claim a well respected 3rd. And of course, Sally is just a freak :p

6 people under 12.50!!!!!!!!!! Previous to the race only 10 people had ever broken 12.50. Wow.

Asbel Kiprop ran a 3:28.xx 1500m last night. WL?

Holy moly.

Nick Willis third in 3:30.xx I think.

Going to be a huge accomplishment if the Aussies can get past the semis.

Anyone know if Risely is running the 800 or the 1500?

I am pretty sure the 1500m is his focus for London 2012.

Kiprop is going to be hard to beat in London, although he isn't the best tactical runner so this might bring him back to the field. E.g. Third in Kenyan Trials in slow, tactical race.

Just read over at runnerstribe that Risely was only 8 hundredths of a second off the Aus 800m record. Seems like that's where he is stronger, if only slightly more so.

Love to see the record broken. Ralph Doubell's 1968 performance is far too long to have as an Aussie record.

Just read over at runnerstribe that Risely was only 8 hundredths of a second off the Aus 800m record. Seems like that's where he is stronger, if only slightly more so.

Tactically he is a better 1500m runner (in my opinion), which gives him a greater opportunity to advance through to the semis and maybe even the final if everything goes to plan. There are far more better 800m runners than Risely, compared to the 1500m...which is scary stuff!
