I am a NOSH fan, but it was a toss up with the inaugural Glowworm Tunnel Marathon. I decided to go with the convenience of the local event this year. It just fitted in better with other committments.
I will be doing a relaxed return run to Lindfield after the race. Any takers?

Biggest problem with this race is finding a way back to the start (apart from running). Hopefully we can sort it out soon so Mrs RH can run it.

"The event will go ahead rain or shine ... Sometimes it rains a bit in the week before the event but most of the track handles the rain pretty well and your feet will stay dry if you watch your step."

I'm like you Paul, would have loved to have a go at the Glow Worm, but the convenience of this race won.

What a great day for a race - nice turn out despite conditions. lots of very happy faces at finish.
Love the "keep your feet dry" line.......at one point i lost my foot in the grassy mud up to my knee!!!!

I finished in 77 minutes, about 3:30 minutes slower than last year. I went out a little more conservatively than previous years, when I found myself hanging in at the end. I am not totally sure my strategy totally worked, although I pretty much held my place in the field over the last 6km.
I think the optimum strategy would have involved more training that included speed work and quality off-road hill reps. If there is a shortcoming in your fitness, NOSH really shows it.
The return run to Lindfield was even wetter and muddier.
I do wonder how the two women who were trailing the field fared. I encountered them at 12:30pm, as they were just starting the descent from the behind the houses at about 9km. They were extremely tentative as they held hands and talked through what appeared to be a relatively straight forward step down. They were just about to start the roughest, slipperiest and hardest part of the course. Even if they maintained their current pace they were looking at a finish of 4:15 at best.

I was worried about the rain, not so much during the run but standing around at the start. To my amazement the rain eased 1 hr before the start and didnt kick in again till after I finished.
Needless to say the track was very wet. Once the shoes are soaked it's fun to run through the puddles hoping they arent too deep!@ This is a good intro to the challanges of trail/bush running for those of us that cant cope with the bigger events of 3okm +. The challanges are doubled in wet conditions when every rock spells possible disaster. Its difficult concentrating on every footfall for 15km and I try and run easy to negate any spills. I still fell once, more a slip, some blood on the hand but nothing serious.
Congrats to the organisers of this great event. Good marking of the track and mashelling.
This year I ran 92mins on the back of a 1:49 SMH 1/2. Was thinking I'd go under 90 but got pretty tired in the 2nd half and slowed to a walk on the steeper climbs.
* to the people that wear earphones in a race like this - do you realise that people behind you are trying to call/warn when they are passing and you cant hear them because you have music blasting in your ears? this is a bit annoying for passing runners and a bit selfish in my opinion.

I was just behind you Paul, but about 9 minutes faster than last year. The weird thing was that I finished a couple of minutes ahead of last year's winning time in my category, but so did three other old blokes...

1. Jamie Stewart (18-29yrs) - 66:14
2. Timothy Stiel (40-49yrs) - 66:21
3. Richard Banks (30-39yrs) - 66:57
Top 3 Female:
1. Sian Walker (18-29yrs) - 76:28
2. Barbara Hill (40-49yrs) - 77:10
3. Vanessa Garlick (18-29yrs) - 77:30
Winning time was well down on 2011's 59:13 - the course this year was fractionally longer at 15.3km, and carried lots of water but still! It was a wet day out; perhaps the rain kept a few 'fair weather' fast runners at home, or maybe they went out west to tackle the glow worm half / full marathons (205 finishers). NOSH course was outstandingly marked and marshalled - thankyou to all involved. This is one of Sydney's best races without a doubt - a secret run through stunning scenery, so close to suburban Sydney. You could not wipe the smile off any finisher - the thrill of navigating that course safely and being able to run onto the oval was a just reward. Great work Bennelong Northside Orienteers - see you in 2013.
