In light of recent cancellations i just thought i would start up this thread....
Not all of us are close to the Blue Mountains and with the weather forecast looking "OK" i thought it may be a good idea to get an idea of how the track, crossings and weather are looking at this stage and how things may pan out in the future ?

A couple of us went down Nellies across to Dunphies then almost to Taros and back on Sunday morning. No problems on that part of the track. All was fine. A few puddles but that is all.

Plenty of trees down and several tracks closed for repair.
Still 3 weeks to fix it all...

I have identified some names of runners who have been bring bad Ju-Ju to recent trail running events. So far this year they have entered Bogong to Hotham (called short), Six Foot (cancelled) and Mt Solitary (indefinitely postponed). Bad news is that they have also signed up for TNF100…..

Good, it's not me then.
GlenfieldBrook - twice; Six Foot; Mt Solitary.
I've only brought bad karma to races held in the Blue Mountains.

Edit: Correction - ta Windy

Some major track closures around Wentworth Falls with maintenance work in progress.   The signs indicated that work was ongoing for some time.   hopefully they will open up the sections needed for TNF in time.

The forecast is looking better in the lead up. As long as we get some dry spells after the scheduled rain we should be ok on that front, so i guess its just a matter of whether or not the track will be clear etc

I would plead guilty, but I have had 2 noncancelled races within 2 weeks, so I can now be considered a bringer of good luck.

The sign on the undercliff track says it will be closed until July - I think that section is unlikely to be open for TNF.

I and a few other Leura Icebergs were running in the area yesterday and bumped into the people who are working on this part of the track. They said that the track is going to be open for both these events and then closed again.

Weather forecast until the 10th of May looking good. Temperature isn't. Not for me anyway. The nearby towns are having 0-2 degrees.

If it is not wet/slippery I have no problem with 0 degrees or lower even. Gloves and Beenie are the key. I love taking a pull from my Hydration pack and tasting the cool refreshing water instead of luke warm rubbery liquid.

The track along the cliff top to Echo point (after CP4) is closed at the moment. I took the liberty of checking it out a couple of weeks ago and there are two patches where the wooden boardwalk is burnt out from bush fires. I guess it is easy to bypass, though trail runners will have no problems negotiating the dodgy patches if they open it up for the race.

Hope it's cold like last year. Nothing like a brisk bracing skip through the bush.

Would rather wear my thermals then carry them. I seem to feel better running in the cold than the heat.

cold is doable.. we should all be greatfull that we have such great weather over the last 3 weeks because one more "weather event" probably would have been the end of TNF100 2012
