Any views out there on 8 weeks being long enough to train for a HM???

I am on the comeback from some niggling knee problems (physio and sports therapist unable to give clear diagnosis - but have given me all clear to get back into running), so I was thinking perhaps I could just try to run the distance without worrying about pushing for a good time.

Should mention I have run one before so I do know what I am in for. Prior to injury and off feet for 3 weeks I normally run 7/8kms 2-3 times a week.

Probably think I may be slightly mad for considering it but then again isn't that a common trait in runners ;)

I trained for 5 weeks for the Canberra Half.  It wasn't long enough for a good result, but I finished it and had a great time.  I was worried about rushing back from a mild ITB complaint, but it didn't trouble me at all.  I did half an hour of yoga every morning, which was probably just as valuable as the running training, which was about 40kms a week.

I have come back from injury that lasted 5 months or more and have just  trained for 8 weeks in prep for 50 km next weeki got some good training in however dont think it will be enoughf for a time that represents my skill in running.eg even if i do well it wont be anything near my best.in other words if you want to complete the distance then go for it but if your after pbs maby another race would be better.or if your like me and and doing a new distance you havent raced before a pb is a certanty:)
