Have registered for the 10.5km event again.  Half marathon starting at 8.00am and 10.5km at 8.10am.  Good events and well organised.

I will be signing up for this local one again. Did my first half here last year and will do the half again (doing Gold Coast Marathon in July so will be interesting!)

Do wish that they would start the half earlier though or start the 10km later. Hated having a flood of 10km runner push past you after only 10 minutes while us half marathoners are pacing ourselves for the long run ahead.  Made for a long 2nd lap of the course too in a way.  Also wasnt very nice to finish and find that cause the 10km finishes so quickly, mostly everyone had left already to enjoy the rest of their day! Takes a little of the fun away but thats just my thoughts ;) .

I'll be there again with bells on, it's my local event so I wouldn't miss it.

I agree it would be nice to have a bit more room between the two starts. I can only assume they're so close together because of limits on how long they can close the roads?

Rob28D, every year I stay up at Lake Macquarie the night before.  The Lakeside Motor Inn is not too far from the start.

I'll be there for the half again, it's my local as well, and a nice, flat, picturesque course.

I wasn't going to enter this year, but the flat course has tempted me to have a crack at a pb, so I am in.

Agree with the comments about start times, 7am start for the half would be better, however its a nice event

Haven't done this one before and sounds like a good event. Is it a fast course? PB op?

Yes for sure. Most of course is flat.. Couple of slight rises, but nothing major.

I've always found it to be a course that generates some pretty quick times. My half PB is 80:05 and my best time at Lake Macquarie is 80:24 so it's up there with the quickies in my opinion. There's some gentle undulations but the only one I have found that you feel at all is the slight uphill after leaving Warners Bay on the second lap.

A great event and good excuse to get away from the city rat race for the weekend.

This event is Sunday week. I'm surprised no one is posting here.

I will do the half but I'm actually really training for my first marathon (Blackmores)so was planning to do an extra loop after the half as my last 32k run. I'm not too fussed on my half time and since the race doesn't start until 8am I was thinking maybe if I got there early I could do 6k before and then just 5k after.

I'm looking forward to this one as it'll be my last long run before the marathon.

Who else is in for this one?

Hope to see you at Lake Mac if you decide to do it.
Take care.

I was originally thinking of doing one of the runs, but then I got asked to do Trail Walker, I think I'll have trouble walking on the Sunday let alone running.

If it's a nice day I might come and watch ...

Great weekend to be in Lake Macquarie.  I wore my Coolrunner cap but compared to most years did not see many other Coolrunners.  I know you were out there but not in Coolrunning colours.  Did hear a few "go Coolrunner" which was appreciated.  I need all the support I can get.  Only did the 10km but 10km to me is like a half marathon.  Apart from one runner in a Coolrunning cap in the front of the pack for the half marathon you all hid yourselves pretty well.

All it took was a little encouragement Adam - that hill the second time is not as bigger obstacle as you thoughtPosted Image  A PB for me as well so a great mornings running all round.
Thanx for keeping me entertained and best wishes with continued success and progress with your running.
The best part of setting a PB is the challenge of improving it :good:

Cheers
Graham

Great weekend and run Lake Mac! I wasn't feeling confident after the splints but they didn't play up on me at all :) I was hoping for Sub 50 as i haven't been training much and came in at 49:56 in 10.8km (Garmin time) :) very happy and will be back next year!

Was a good morning :)

No PB for me well on that course I guess could say there was.
I had a goal and that was to "encourage" my wife to finish her 1st 10.5km

We crossed 1hr 07mins
She wanted 1hr 20mins so I guess I done more than what she wanted hey.

Now to focus on Forster.

Hey Rob28D, my time was 49:54 - so there were other Coolrunners loitering around me.  Was a bit annoyed - in the Sutherland to Surf my shoe lace came undone on two occasions within the first 1km.  Today, my Coolrunning cap blew off.  Next year if it is windy, will stick to my usual cap that grips the head better.

A great day down by the Lake. It's my local and one of, if not my favourite event and this year didn't disappoint. I came home with my first sub-90 half after finishing in 88:44, a 6 minute 4 second improvement on last years time. A massive result for me.

I had my Coolrunner hat on and gave out a shout every time I saw another one so hopefully you heard me. I saw Yekrut running with Adski (although I didn't know who you were at the time) and I remember spotting a female runner in a cap so maybe that was you Kookaburra.

The conditions were very good overall but damn the bit of wind on the second leg going out to speers point really made it feel harder. My slowest km was 4:19 and my fastest, in 4:03, was the 21st. That maybe indicates I could have gone faster than I did, who knows.

Good time Maffrew. You motored that second half. The wind really zapped me around the point but still managed to get under 90, that was the goal. I am very happy with that for my first half-marathon.

Nice day at the office for Mrs Otis and myself.  Started off a little on the rough side, as we were not ready and rushed the start, but managed a nice 58 mins for the 10.5 km turnaround.  But the second out along the lake with that headwind knocked Mrs O around, and her shoes were giving grief.  Came home in 2:00:48 , not a pb but after the shoes really caused some grief, i was quite happy with that.  Our goal was 1:50 - 1:55 and i think if Mrs O did not have the problem with the shoes, we would have made it.

Saw a few CR's, even Chelbub giving it a bit in her 10km.  Good run Maffrew - nice time.

I forgot to mention the young fella I seen, not far after the start of the half. He was running along with a carrot in each hand. Not sure if he was part donkey or what, but I got a good laugh out of it.

I didn't spot that. Certainly an original way to eat during a run.

I'm very impressed with the t-shirt this year, definitely the highest quality shirt i've received from an event entry.

Unsure as it was only about 500m after the start. I said to him " carrot's mate?" he replies "yeah", I chuckled and kept on my way.
