Hi,

I have moved out to western Sydney recently and looking to take advantage of the lower blue mountains to ramp up my trail running for upcoming trail events.

I am planning on joining Running Wild and competing in those events for season 3, but in the mean time can anywhere point me to some good trails to run and some basic details on location, where to park ect? average distance I am looking to train on would be 15-25km trail with a good mix of hills and flat.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Your easiest options are a few of the trails in Glenbrook national park. You can park and start either from the rangers hut or from Glenbrook station.

You have Mt Portal run, red hands cave, bennetts ridge and combinations of these three which will give you anywhere from 1hr to 3hrs of running depending on your pace.

There are several different groups of people who run in there on a regular basis as well as on other trails. Running Wild and the BMMC boys and girls are some good places to find others who you can run with to discover the trails.

I will be back into it in a few weeks after some rehab on my broken foot. Happy to hook up at that point for a few runs if you want. I will be running trails on a Sunday morning nice and early. So you can join in on the front and help clear the spider webs :Big Grin:

Also you have Knapsack Park if coming from Penrith it's easy to park at the bottom of Mitchell's Pass car park there. I haven't tried it yet but I'm pretty sure you could almost run all day there and use a different trail every time. As far as getting lost there it's a boundaries are the M4 and Mitchells Pass and suburban roads of Glenbrook. You have stairs fire trails single track and some really stunning views. Great place to run

Also the national park is great with red hands being one nof my favourite's currently. Jump on the Blue Mountains Marathon Clinic on f/b and people will post runs on there. There is also regular Tuesday / Thursday runs informall around the lower mountains with the BMMC

Ugh, spider webs - one of the advantages of not being at the front of the pack when racing trail runs is the clearance of all the critters by the 'guns'. :)

Please come and join us in bmmc land. Communication has been through the Facebook page of late for ease of maintenance. Fairly sure if you search Blue Mountains Marathon Clinic you will find us. Also look at scambullant.blogspot, in right menus are a heap of mapmyrun runs.

Happy to join you for some.
