If you are interested in attending please let me know so I can ensure that we have enough space booked.
Last year we had around 45 in total.
The food is Bistro type food, quite tasty and good value, and needless to say the company was great.
I will start off with the guys travelling with me.

Looking forward to meeting my fellow keyboard warriors and imaginary friends
To the marathon first-timers (of which I am one): Come!! Get rid of pre-race jitters...come along and meet someone more nervous than you (i.e. your fellow first timers)
We also have a roll call wiki page set up;
http://www.coolrunni...Gold_Coast_2012
Add yourself to the list by clicking on the "edit" tab. If you can't get the edit function to work, just post your event / goal time / dinner attendance here and I'll add it for you.

Hi, I Couldn't figure out how to add my details to the wiki page :s
I'll be travelling solo as it's a quick weekend dash for me, and would love to meet up and mingle with some fellow GC runners. So count me as a +1
I'm running the marathon, aiming for sub 3:15

Doing the full again, and after today's run, daring to dream of 3.15

So are there any rules / protocols for the dinner lol other then enjoy oneself.
By this i mean do we have to wear any coolrunning gear (being new to the cool running boards, I don't have any as yet), and I assume we just bring cash to pay for dinner. Any guide on price for dinner?
Cheers, looking forward to it, was actually thinking of posting a topic for solo travellers who wanted to get together for dinner when i saw this thread

CR gear - I'd say no...that gear looks more running gear than social gear to me (happy for others to correct me on this).
Cash yes
Menu at...

Hmm, just had a look at the menu myself; wouldn't mind some of that after the race (when I can and will eat whatever and as much as I want!!). Any interest in a return trip to the surf club for post-race lunch / drinks?

Post race CR gathering is always at the SLSC so you will have plenty of company

It came out and was just a mountain of seafood and Fries. After a number of weeks watching my diet the amount of seafood that was on that tray looked very nice.

Can you please put me in for the Half Marathon in a time of 92. I was hoping to do 88 this year but a series of injuries has really knocked my training about, so had to settle for a more reasonable time.(although I will have to work pretty hard to get close to.)

Lol hell nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. This is my first marathon. I have a lot of respect for the distance. Just going by the personal best over the half and my fitness level now and the running calculators McMillan and running times gives me between 2.24 and 2.25. So as it's my first one and wanting a good experience. I am going in very causious and going for the goal time of 2.27 to 2.28 :-) I am a yes for both at this stage! Depending on my return flight back to tassie :-) so definately for pre :-)

I think I read in the GC Marathon newsletter that it's free meals for marathon runners post race - just need to show your bib, or medal. I might try and make it back to the SLSC and take them up on this as well as a few beers.
One question though, will it be really busy and impossible to get seats / food quickly? At least we have booking for the pre race meal / freakout lol Looking forward to meeting my fellow CR people. Hope your training is going well and you enjoy the impending taper!

Hi Casper, first post by Hillsaths1 says booking is for Southport SLSC. The post race party is at Surfers Paradise SLSC. I think Southport SLSC fills faster post race since it's closer to the start/finish. I went for the Surfers post race party last year, not that crowded, managed to get a snag easily.

More generally, it is definitely not too late...we can keep adding numbers up until race week. But make a guy's life easier, tell us as early as possible!

I'm looking at around 4 hours but I'd rather have a good run than worry about the watch!
I'm a maybe for the dinner. Will depend on the kids and 'escaping' for a few hours!
See you all soon
