All I have made a tentative booking for 30 people at the Southport SLSC for 6pm on Saturday the 30th June.

If you are interested in attending please let me know so I can ensure that we have enough space booked.

Last year we had around 45 in total.

The food is Bistro type food, quite tasty and good value, and needless to say the company was great.

I will start off with the guys travelling with me.

HillsAths plus 4

Looking forward to meeting my fellow keyboard warriors and imaginary friends :D

To the marathon first-timers (of which I am one): Come!! Get rid of pre-race jitters...come along and meet someone more nervous than you (i.e. your fellow first timers)

We also have a roll call wiki page set up;
http://www.coolrunni...Gold_Coast_2012
Add yourself to the list by clicking on the "edit" tab. If you can't get the edit function to work, just post your event / goal time / dinner attendance here and I'll add it for you.

Hi, I Couldn't figure out how to add my details to the wiki page :s

I'll be travelling solo as it's a quick weekend dash for me, and would love to meet up and mingle with some fellow GC runners.  So count me as a +1

I'm running the marathon, aiming for sub 3:15 :)

I reckon I will put in an appearance again.  Put me down for 1, I am staying a bit closer this year, so won't do a 9km walk on the saturday to get there.
Doing the full again, and after today's run, daring to dream of 3.15

Thanks af15.

So are there any rules / protocols for the dinner lol other then enjoy oneself.

By this i mean do we have to wear any coolrunning gear (being new to the cool running boards, I don't have any as yet), and I assume we just bring cash to pay for dinner.  Any guide on price for dinner?

Cheers, looking forward to it,  was actually thinking of posting a topic for solo travellers who wanted to get together for dinner when i saw this thread :)

CR gear - I'd say no...that gear looks more running gear than social gear to me (happy for others to correct me on this).
Cash yes
Menu at...

Hmm, just had a look at the menu myself; wouldn't mind some of that after the race (when I can and will eat whatever and as much as I want!!). Any interest in a return trip to the surf club for post-race lunch / drinks?

Looking at the menu reminded me that last year two of the people who were not running on the Sunday but were in our party ordered the Seafood platter for two.

It came out and was just a mountain of seafood and Fries. After a number of weeks watching my diet the amount of seafood that was on that tray looked very nice.

af15 , I clearly need some help with Wiki as I am not able to put my details in.

Can you please put me in for the Half Marathon in a time of 92. I was hoping to do 88 this year but a series of injuries has really knocked my training about, so had to settle for a more reasonable time.(although I will have to work pretty hard to get close to.)

I'm still not sure of my arrangements Mara weekend so i'll say no to being there. However if plans change i'll probably be there as part of my Bayside Runners group but i'll be sure to come over and say hello.

As for my Mara time, whatever PH said less 3sec.

Just to clarify, did you mean the pre- or post-race gathering? (Or both?)
Btw wouldn't your target time win the whole thing?? And are you going to the Olympics?? Australia's sole rep at Beijing '08 (Lee Troop) did 2:27:17...
Either way...

Hrm, I remember reading a post about this somewhere. Something about how the software for the forums has been updated but not the software for the wiki, and the logins possibly being different. Can't find it now tho (can never find things when I need them). I think Bellthorpe wrote it. Bellthorpe?

Everyone who asked to be added to the wiki since my last post - done.
I'll check and update daily so won't be posting just to say "done" from now on.

EDIT (01/06/2012)
Found it:

View PostBellthorpe, on 02 June 2011 - 12:50 PM, said:

The wiki software is different to the forum software. There used to be a 'bridge' between the two, so that all registered forum members were also able to log in to the wiki. However, the wiki software has not moved forward, and no longer supports the recent versions of forum software. It's frozen in time. Thus, new forum members do not have a logon ID.  Old forum members who've changed their password will not be able to login, but can use the password change function.

If you want a wiki login, send CR an email, with your user name and desired password. This should be different to your forum password, and CR does not know your present forum password, has no way of finding it out, and does not want to know.

Lol hell nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. This is my first marathon. I have a lot of respect for the distance.  Just going by the personal best over the half and my fitness level now and the running calculators McMillan and running times gives me between 2.24 and 2.25. So as it's my first one and wanting a good experience. I am going in very causious and going for the goal time of 2.27 to 2.28 :-) I am a yes for both at this stage! Depending on my return flight back to tassie :-) so definately for pre :-)

How nervous is Lyonsyrunner going to be? But it will be very exciting if he runs according to his goals.

af15, I am unable to log in to the wiki page. could you please add the following details?

Half; SpecBGT 1:42:xx (or Sub 1:43 if you prefer); yes to dinner.

10km; silvermachine, 54 to 57 mins (don't know how much the heat is going to affect me); yes to dinner.

We will both be attending the post run drinks. Very much looking forward to meeting some CRs.

I think I read in the GC Marathon newsletter that it's free meals for marathon runners post race - just need to show your bib, or medal.  I might try and make it back to the SLSC and take them up on this as well as a few beers.

One question though, will it be really busy and impossible to get seats / food quickly?  At least we have booking for the pre race meal / freakout lol  Looking forward to meeting my fellow CR people.  Hope your training is going well and you enjoy the impending taper!

Hi Casper, first post by Hillsaths1 says booking is for Southport SLSC. The post race party is at Surfers Paradise SLSC. I think Southport SLSC fills faster post race since it's closer to the start/finish. I went for the Surfers post race party last year, not that crowded, managed to get a snag easily.

My bad Kaiser, shows my lack of knowledge of all things GC, and my terrible habit of skim reading.

Still a free meal sounds good so might be worth the trip. Wait and see I guess.

As I understand, the CR post-race is "traditionally" at Southport. From the email it looks like the post-race thing at Surfers Paradise SLSC doesn't start 'til 4pm, so there might be time to go to both...(depending on when you finish)

No worries buzz. Added you to the roll call page too.

More generally, it is definitely not too late...we can keep adding numbers up until race week. But make a guy's life easier, tell us as early as possible! :)

I'm a maybe for the dinner. Will depend on the kids and 'escaping' for a few hours!
