Grahak starts running on Sunday. People can email the race director team at scmtny@earthlink.net to send him messages.

The RD prints them out and brings them down about 7pm each day. Grahak appreciates all news from home - even what might seem mundane. Apparently the race isn't just on foot. There is also a race to have more in your hand to read than the Czechs!

Wishing him all the best, no doubt this race would be an awesome experience. Hopefully one day for me in a few more years. One in a lifetime would do me, 4 times is awesome.

This is inspiring stuff in every sense - the mental challenge seems more daunting than the physical. Will be checking the up dates and cheering for Grahak (and all the other competitors) as the weeks (weeks!!!)pass. Can anyone explain why all the runners have Indian 1st names? Do they get a new name when they sign up? Do the names have special meaning or anything? Cheers all.

After 10 days Grahak has completed 706 Miles and is sitting in 1st. He has a 40 miles lead over 2nd. Grahak is running a fairly consistent 70 miles a day. Very hard for this mere mortal to get his head around this effort.

That's a wonderful photo essay. I really like Grahak's straightforward words which convey so much.

Well overnight, Grahak finished the 3100 miles in a time of 43 days + 10h 36m 39s and won !

His website is at http://www.grahakcunningham.com/

What a shame there is no Gold Medal in the Ultra Ultra category!  (STIC)

Fantastic effort by Grahak. Only 2 days off Wolfgang Schwerk's course record.

This has been so good to follow.

For the past 44 mornings, Grahak has got up and run 100km or so. I wonder if Grahak will head out for a run when he wakes tomorrow?

Coming down safely, both physically and emotionally, after such an epic event must be a challenge in itself.

It took me a few months after the last 6 Day Race to "come down safely, both physically and emotionally" so I can't imagine going back to "normal" life ever again after an event like the 3100 miler.

This has to be one of Australia's sports performances of the year, but, as usual, the world media is obsessed by speed, glamour and what they perceive to be heroic stories.

This is one heroic effort that I can really appreciate, having just had a tiny inkling of the seemingly endless pain, fatigue and mental games that multidays bring.

Congratulations Grahak- you are a true legend and a great role model as well.

I think we need to make a gesture for this mammoth effort. What do people think would be appropriate and how should we go about it. Thoughts and ideas, we cannot let this go without some seriuos peer appreciation.

Hi Billy, I think Grahak will be very appreciative of any kind comments left on his web page.  Talking to one of the Sri Chinmoy members during the race, I get the impression that Grahak is a very humble man and was finding it hard coping with being in the lead with this race.   So im sure he will be reading the positive feedback on his race.  Im sure he may get a nomination for the AURA runner of the year award as well!
