Seems to be the same as above, but did not work at first, tried a second time via CR calender and got in.

So who is going?
Target times?
I am planning on doing it being only 1 week after Sydney Trailwalker not sure how fast I can go but I will do my best.
I got my HM PB last year on this course, if recovered enough will try for a PB so sub 1:27:43.
Anybody else looking at a similar time that I can pace off?

Well priced, nice traffic free location and a reasonably sized field without being too crowded ... what more could you ask for?

I would say about max 300m of the course is not on sealed paths.A short bit at the start. then a short bit once each of two laps, then another slightly longer bit to the finish line.

Thanks! It would be great if the event site had a little more info on it. I'm not expecting elevation cross-sections but a basic course detail along with clearly marked start and finish pointers would be nice. I figured it out by looking at detail but most maps (Including the one for Ryde rivers fun run) clearly mark the start/finish point. It doesn't take a genius to work it out I admit but it would take the hassle of zooming in and out all over the map.

I ran their 10km event back in May, and there were 3 or 4 water tables I think. Couldn't tell you the distance between them, but it certainly wasn't a problem. The 10km started on grass for about 200/300m, and then was sealed the whole way from memory.

I have entered........and since I am currently running very poorly, may I request a hot chocolate.
I don't head out to lake Gillawarna very often, but i really enjoy it when I do. I have fond memories of my first marathon out there 29 years ago.

From a couple of years ago, I remember one drink station which you pass in either direction up toward the north end of the two loop course and another at the south end, so that would give 6 stations spread over 21km.
As for the directions to the start, I thought the website instructions were perfectly clear.
"The clubhouse is located 150m west of the footbridge over Henry Lawson Drive, Georges Hall, between Flinders Road and Georges Crescent. If you are attending for the first time, we would recommend that you park in Henry Lawson Drive under the pedestrian bridge and walk in 150m to the clubhouse."
You won't miss it. Just look out for about 500 runners!
Westies have been successfully staging races for decades. They are runners. They know what runners require. Just roll up, race, have fun. No need to over-think it.

A quick request though, I was wondering if anyone was heading down from the far west? I can catch a train from Katoomba to Penrith or any stop on the blue mountains line, but getting from there to Bankstown at the time of day is not super easy..

So we start from around near the clubhouse? It says click here for directions to the start but then it just describes getting to the clubhouse. It looks about right after reconciling the location it with the ends of the squiggly lines on the route map. I have one other question from previous years are the tops true to size? Or are they a bit big, or a bit small? I'm usually a medium but sometimes 'mediums' are huge...

Park in Beatty Parade, and you won't be able to miss the start area

When you see Ibis sitting in trees on a artificial lake and fit looking running types scuttling about all in the one direction then follow them, the Westies Clubhouse and the race start area is afoot.

"
The only worry is the burn offs hanging around early on the 02/09 but unless there are strong north westerly winds blowing (and a large tract is burned off) then we should be right.
I checked the wind forecast (even though I know how fickle five day forecasts can be) so we should be right:
WSW at 13km/h

I'm pretty sure this event would not "sell out". Have you tried calling the number given on the info page to ask about entry on the day?

Why did they close online entries four days in advance? Does it take that long to process online payments? I am very hesitant to register on the day. I have had bad experiences in the past finding desks and just general panic. I need to have things organised before hand, so it looks like I won't be running

Relax, Leyley.
If you roll up to enter on the day, you will certainly not be turned away. The club and the race exist to get people like us out and running!
It will just be a simple process of fill out the entry form, pay your money and collect your number.
It's a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and an attractive course. You will be glad you decided to venture out.
