Proposed route below - the highgate hill 'hill' at around the 12k mark will be challenging!

Am not really sure that Highgate Hill will be the new Heartbreak Hill though, it's only about 400m long!!! More of a bump...

Bit of a hill about the 6km mark, nothing too crazy. Will run it this arvo on way home from work.

It's interesting, isn't it. Presumably they've been negotiating for a while...it would be very interesting to hear the back story....Buzz???

One big climb to Ryans Road (Japanese Restaurant on the right) you hit pretty much the moment you turn left off Brisbane Street - gets steeper late in the climb, too, so you'll want to be a bit wary early. Good gentle descent, though, so if you haven't redlined you can have a good push down to the uni.
I wonder how they're planning to get the crowd from Sir William MacGregor Drive on to the Green Bridge and then back off again? That's going to get a bit squeezy if they get the numbers they're after.

I think it goes under the bridge, and you run along the road for another 300-500 m before looping around the carpark and approaching the bridge straight. It could be a bit tight down a bit of the bike path, but I assume they'll close the bridge for buses and allow us to run on the road.

It's about 60m elevation from the 10km to 12.5km mark with a little flat about 11.5km. Very simillar to the Gateway bridge for a comparison of length and elevation.

Heat can also be a factor at any time of year in Brisbane - on June 13 this year the temp had risen to 17.5 degrees by 9am . Many Brisbane runners habitually get out early in the morning to avoid the heat.

Just sent off an email to see if I can get into the redzone. I've only done two 10ks this year (42 at B2B, 46 at mousdash) but do you think they would accept that as qualifying results? Based on those times I'm sure i'll get home way before the 75 minutes cut-off

Registered anyway maybe lower numbers so far than they expected? It's not like they have been advertising yet.

And I don't know how many people would enter such a short race so far in advance. Not until it achieves iconic status anyway

Just wondering where you saw the extension ItHurtsAt33km? I must be looking in the wrong place as it still says 30 November on the front page?

I took another look at the website and I can't find it anymore. I think the table that shows prices had Jan 31st.... must have been a mistake that they fixed - or I'm just making it up. Either way, it looks like early bird pricing does end today (Friday 30th Nov)

I really hope they get the course they want. It will be good for all Brisbane races to have a precedent where thousands of runners are more important then a few empty buses.
It will be hilly, but a memorable course. Especially nice running down to the finish from Highgate Hill with the City in the distance. Having the start and finish relatively close together will make it logistically much easier then the City to Surf or Bridge to Brisbane.
We need to get everyone we know to run because this event needs to be a success so it will continue as a major event for Brisbane.

Indie promoter: "We need to close the roads on three bridges for our fun run to be safe and cater for the expected numbers. Could you please answer sir ? My knees are getting sore."
PTB: "No, that is not possible. Stop bothering us."
.....
Fairfax or News Corp.: "We need to close the roads on three bridges for our fun run to be safe and cater for the expected numbers. We will use our newspapers to ensure it is popular." Through the side of his mouth: "We starve the idiot readers of athletics/running news for the rest of the year so they will think that they have it made in the shade if we mention running and athletics without drawing attention to some negative aspect of the sport.
" And closing the roads - no problem. Newman come out of my pocket old son. We need some roads closed."
Newman: "Can do! What roads? When?"
" Anna did it! Ooops wrong script."

I also saw that the date had been extended and was holding off on registering untill closer to the 31st of January. Now I may have missed out on the Special Launch Offer

Upon opening the email there is a section at the bottom relating to the City2South run - and a special launch which ends tonight...enter now to receive the Special Launch Offer.
When selecting the link to the entry page for City2South the front page on the website still says ....Special Launch Offer Until Nov 30 (???)
Not sure what is going on here with the Special Launch Offer and cut off date/time. Does anyone have any answers from the organisers yet??

That must be it...had a look at my bib number 118 which is preferred too. Any idea if the course is confirmed and how long it will be? The map says "proposed" and peters out somewhere between 13 and 14k...
Wonder what sort of numbers they are expecting for this race? If They get 10,000-20,000 it will never be a problem to close roads etc as the race fess will cover police costs etc. Guess the Brisbane Marathon just doesn't have the numbers yet...
Pretty excited about Brisbane's first C2S!!

Have never run C2S in Sydney because of the huge numbers and the difficulty in getting a preferred start (sub 35 10k!), but figure if you can safely knock out a sub 54 or 53 time at the Brisbane race this year it should be possible to get preferred in Sydney in 2014. Thoughts???
