Centennial Park Ultra presented by Pace Athletic is back for the 5th year.

The event is on 2nd August 2015 and entries are open. Click here  to register directly.

For the hardcore Ultra runners, there are a few changes made to make it a more runners runners event

* Big screen for live race laps, splits and positions
* Dedicated runners 'pit lane' )

The 50km solo and the 50km team relay are two of the popular events and are filling up fast.

Idea lead up races for
* Oxfam Trailwalker (3 weeks) -  team relay of 4 for 100km
* Sydney Marathon (7 weeks) /  Melbourne Marathon (11 weeks) -  Pair up to race the 50km

Early bird closes end of the month!

Hey all,

I'm looking forward to once again being involved in this great event. I'll be manning the half way aid station (otherwise known as the tunnel of lov).

I am very tempted to sign up for the 100km, after having to downgrade to the 50km in 2013, and popped my 100 cherry elsewhere last year.  I definitely have unfinished business with the CP100. Just need my events coordinator to sign off on it.

I am in for the 50km again. It is not very often that I get to run an ultra 15 minutes from home. And with the friendly volunteers such as milov with the tunnel of love, how could I not go around again. Looking forward to it.

Ill be back for my 2nd CP. Will be doing the 100km relay with 1 or 2 others. Hopefully we get as nice a day as we did last year! Will have to remember to take a beanie and my gloves this year, pretty fresh at the start!

Looking at the pricing this afternoon, but I'm a little confused. "early bird" was $120 for the 100km solo until April 30th, but then it's $138 from 1st June.

What happened to May?

This year's event will now include a marathon. So for all you marathon junkies out there, come on down and run a marathon in the beautiful surrounds of Centennial Park on a crisp winter's day.

I was a little too excited, perhaps, when I saw this post on FB this morning. But I think I'd be pushing my luck with the old DTI, if I tried to enter.

Buzz and his team of volunteers staged an absolute cracker of an event. The atmosphere created was brilliant. Great to see so many runners and crew out there running around Centennial Park on a lovely winter's day. Already looking forward to next year.

Mega Congrats Buzz  and all the Buzz Event crew ! Awesome job organising such a mind boggling event !  It certainly was a   BUZZING EVENT !!  You had thought of every little thing that would make it as enjoyable and stress free as possible for the runners...other than running the distances for them ^_^  I thought I had the best post volunteering about a km a out from the finish . Watching and sharing every lap with everyone and then seeing the sheer joy of achievement on their faces when they knew it was their final lap  was just priceless. Congrats and well done to everyone  you are simply the BEST!! :yahoo: I agree Tonedbutt it was like a little CR reunion run. It was so good  seeing you and all the rest of the  CRs . I am  soo glad I finally got to catch  up with you  Mrs.Buzz .We may see you on the track next year ? I'm with you Horrie ..can't wait to do it next year :good:

Loved the format, loved the organisation, loved the company, loved the venue, loved the acheivement.

Hated the pain, still hating the pain. Lucky it should be short lived. The strategy of alternating laps really made us fast, it meant I could keep the energy levels up, but was painful on the body!

Buzz, you and your volunteers should be congratulated on a fantastic event, i just couldn't find fault.

Sorry for my late reply.

It certainly was a great day out - Warmest Winter day in 40 years, amazing team atmosphere and we were completely blessed with awesome volunteers.
We are midst of reviewing the day's operations, what we did well, what we didn't do well and hopfully, implement it better next year

Thanks all

What a fantastic day of running Buzz and the team put on for us yesterday!

I got down there early, wanting to enjoy the pre-race atmosphere, as the teams setup their stations. After a tough run at the M7 last week, I was planning to approach this race as a long training run and simply enjoy the laps with everyone else. Buzz walked the small group of marathoners round to the starting point, and soon enough it was time to go. From the start I seemed to be up the front. but hadn't really given it too much thought. After 1 lap I was passed by a guy, but just kept to my plan to run nice and easy. About 5 laps later, the same guy passed me again. I figured he must have had to stop for a time, and was catching me back up, rather than lapping me. About half a lap later, he seemed to slow, and I was stretching out a fair gap on him. At this point, about halfway in the race, I began to wonder who else had gone out ahead of me. I figured if I wasn't in the lead, then it was likely I was 2nd. Reaching the far aid station I left my water bottle for them to fill, and had to run a lap without water. Not wanting to waste time through the pit lane, I carried on back to the far station. About 100m after collecting my re-filled bottle, I discovered they had accidentally filled it with sports drink, rather than water. So I could either double back, or carry on to the start/finish station. On I went, hoping that I wasn't pushing the dehydration. Made it to the main aid station, gulped some water down, and refilled my bottle. On I went, and into the second half. Lap 8 seemed to come around so quickly, and I felt confident with just 4 to go. At this point I put the ipod on, and tried to just keep things relaxed. 3 laps to go I could feel a cramp coming on in my right leg, so had a short walk break and started off slowly. Around to the start/finish once again, and 2 laps to go. At the far aid station, I looked back, and couldn't see anyone that I recognised in the marathon. Through the start/finish again, and 1 lap to go. My crampy feeling seemed to have gone, so I pushed on and managed the last lap in about 19 minutes, which I was pretty happy with. Once I crossed the line and received my medal (possibly the best looking medal ever), the guy confirmed I was second. Couldn't believe it! So I waited around for the presentation, and picked up a trophy for my efforts.

Thanks to all the organisers and volunteers. I had a great day out running, and I'm sure I'll be back again

Agree with Pom. CP Ultra is a fantastic community based event set in the beautiful surroundings of Centennial Park. Buzz has taken this event to another level and adds that extra bit of attention to detail on every issue. I ran the marathon, albeit a bit slower than Pom and finished 4th so no bling for me. Happy to run my 5th sub 4 in the last 6 weeks.

Thanks to Buzz and his amazing team of volunteers for putting on another great event. What is the date next year? Wouldn't miss if I was dead.

Concur with the above comments.Good to see plenty of familiair faces across all events. Was pleasantly surprised that the short repeatative laps didn't take a mental toll, but made it easier to plan the run. May have left some bling behind for a third place in the marathon, but I'm not worthy than much more than a finishers medal when it comes to running marathons. Well done organisers, and a big thanks to the vollies who we couldn't do without.

A great event sadly a DNF for me too slow and body not happy. I was happy to cheer on others though, great work Pom you were so happy with your bling which is lovely to see. Great work by my driver Fatboy Slim and very happy to see him finish.
Interesting to see 2 people in the results who must have been running together in the 50km pull out at with 1 lap to go I wonder if they thought they had done the 50km ?
Thanks to all the cheerful vollies and to Buzz for being a lovely RD
Maybe a return in 2017 not really sure.

It's listed on Running Calendar as 6 August 2017 and as an Athletics NSW RunNSW event.
That is a strong sign it's on as ANSW would have wanted to be clear on the date for their calendar.
However website hasn't been updated yet.
Maybe give Buzz a buzz?

It's listed on Running Calendar as 6 August 2017 and as an Athletics NSW RunNSW event.
That is a strong sign it's on as ANSW would have wanted to be clear on the date for their calendar.
However website hasn't been updated yet.
Maybe give Buzz a buzz?

Thanks Davinator. I will wait a little while longer and keep an eye on the website before giving Buzz a buzz. In the meantime it can't hurt to up my training for this ;)
