Who’s entering?

What’s your goal time?

What training are you doing?

I entered the first day. Have already booked hotel room.
I am starting from the 70-90min group, as that is all tiktok allowed me.
Looking to break my 2012 PB of 68:50, ideally get below 65-66 in the lead up to a sub 5min/km marathon at Sydney (sub 3:31)

I think I'm out this year due to the need to concentrate on my bike leg in August for an event in September.  There's going to be some serious FOMO going on though...

I will be.
My favourite race.

I've had a PB every time I have run it so looking to do the same again.
Sub 60 would be fantastic.

I managed sub 60 last year and you're slightly fast than me now, and I am slightly faster than I was then.  YOU CAN DO IT!!!

BUMP.

Excited? Injured?  Both?

My prep has been interrupted by cycling training, but I still plan to retain my red bib.  Time will tell.

Best of luck to everyone running City to Surf this year!!

A brief note that if you happen to suffer an injury during the race, there will be a Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) tent at the finish line for free physiotherapy assessment and treatment. Hopefully your wont need us! :)

Good Luck!

How nice!  I only have to wait for the queue of 500 to clear and then you're all mine?

Well C2S did not disappoint! Another PB and I am thrilled with a time of 58:22!

Medal design was great I thought.  The run not so good...I hope they don't squeeze me out of Red next year..

I've been running this for many years.  This is the very first time I saw some real violence.

Just before the KC tunnel some goose had elbowed another bloke in the jaw who was standing there looking quite shocked and in peril of being stampeded...  a third guy points  to the offender and shouts "arrest that man arrest that man" who sheepishly looks to move aside and get lost in the throng.

Anybody know what happened?

Very happy! Have been getting over some Achilles niggles for the last few months, missed a few races and had less training than I would have liked.
Still got over the line in 73:15 which is better than I expected and about 3:43 off my PB so next year?

Really appreciated the cool weather this year compared with some warmer ones recently.

Also medals much better again after that run out loud etc mess!

PS does anyone know the official distance these days? Just wondering if they kept it the same after the finish was changed
a couple of years ago.

Maybe I'm a little fussy when it comes to the medal design. I expect a little bit more for my money. I ended up with a time of 62.05 which will probably be my average time for my age. I need to go harder to the base of Heartmurmur Hill.

What was your time Richardegg?

The distance is pretty much spot on 14km.

Agreed, 14k, there is a 2016 YouTube video of the course with a snazzy dashboard display that clocks it at 14.1k.
My Garmin was bumped early on this year before the tunnel; someone else had 13.83k
ausrunning says 13.907km
The 1976-2015 course was at one point rumoured to be 13.6km. I'm sure someone will have a GPS file or mapmyrun etc to settle.

Thought I'd mention this page https://ausrunning.n...-surf/males.php which is extremely interesting, It gives male rankings out to
45:04 and mentions a new course distance of 13907m

I'm positive the official distance was discussed in these forums once, can't find it however! Just remember the Kings Cross tunnel can
send your distances out of whack (my earliest Garmin 9 or 10 years back gave a track which was blocks off the true course, but it seems newer models
do a much better job)

Going up from this page to https://ausrunning.n...c/city-to-surf/ gives many interesting links including scans of the results in the newspaper
from the early days and the woman's rankings https://ausrunning.n...urf/females.php

Discovered from this someone I worked with for a while had 3 second places in the womans, no first alas. (initials RL, also won some early Canberra TImes runs....)

Just checked the C2S website and it says that the distance is approximately 14k

Yes, same site RR.
Funny that you say the tunnel sends things out of "whack" as my GPS was bumped as people were slowing down when someone was whacked...
I ran a season of BBQ Stakes with RL when she was coming back to running, lovely person and humble enough that I'm stumbling on her achievements online!

The OP was comparing the new and old courses. I'm struggling to find a GPS file pre 2016 without signal failure at start/being bumped/losing battery in last k.
Cursory Google search of MapMyRun has the course plotted in 2007 and says 14.0km.
Had anyone else heard that it was 13.6k at one point?

R4YL had an article on the history of the run (last year?) and it mentioned the various distances it's been...

The now defunct "Run With Sole" podcast, hosted by Andrew Reid and Dean Degan, interviewed Chris Secker about the C2S course change (2016); Dave Cundy was responsible for ensuring the new course measured - to the metre(!) - the previous course distance of 13.907km ...

You can listen to the interview here, from approx. the 09:00 mark ... includes a great interview with Mona as well.
