I am a 100/200m sprinter. I have been told to run in flats instead of spikes when training on the track because of my shin splints.
What shoe should I buy? I am flat footed and I wear orthotics. Should I buy something light because I am sprinting or should I buy something with support because I am flat footed?
I won't be wearing the orthotics when I sprint because I do not land on my heel.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Substitute for spikes?

I'm also flat-footed and wear orthotics and have no trouble running in spikes (800m-3000m). I'd say in the 100/200m spikes would be pretty vital, but experiment with spikes or try racing flats. As its a different motion (up on your toes) you may find that the problems that plague your regular running are no longer so common.

Try the ASICS DS Trainer - light enough for track work and more support than spikes.
