Has anyone noticed the different range of colors for the asics 2100 shoe. I'm informed that Athletes foot get their own color and everyone else gets a different color/style. Currently there are 4 different colors/styles on the shelf.
For the record, all are pretty boring, but athletes foot's color is the best. I'd like to see some more funky colors for this model shoe (ie kayano) as it seems to be overtaking Kayano as the most popular. Do you agree?

FIT PT,
I have moved from the Kayano to the 2100 for my everyday running show, after trying out a few other brands. I have found them to be very comfortable and a great shoe. I also have a pair of Loco Bandito's for racing.
While lining up at the start of the SMH Half Marathon I was checking out the shoes around me and the 2100's were easily the most popular, with a few Loco Xpresso's around as well.

Forgot to mention before, when buying runners, I buy 2 pairs at a time (6 months worth) and I asked for a discount at The Athletes Foot. He obliged with a 15%, $60 discount, thank you!

Fit PT,
You've made me curious. I am a recent convert to 2100s, but couldn't even tell you what colour they are (apart from predominantly white). I will be checking them out as soon as I get home from work.
BTW, my poor maths would suggest that you paid $170 for each pair. You can do better than that if you hunt around (this web site in particular).
Regards.

On the USA asics site they have some other colours that we can't get here.
The 'Quick Silver, Storm and Chili' ones looks great.
Pitty they don't come in the wide foot 4E <_<

Very happy with my 2100's in the standard white with blue and silver trim. I am a chronically indecisive shopper but buying these was the easiest shoe shopping expedition as they were the only shoe that:
a) suited my biomechanics
b) was wide enough to fit my massive hoofs
c) felt comfy to run in
Now you tell me that I will have a choice of colour when I buy my next pair :) oh dear! I can see I'll have to allow more time when I need to buy another pair...

The best colours are the "old" colours because you can buy them cheaper than the "new" colours.
All the different colours are a stupid gimmick by the shoe companies to try and con people into thinking that they must have one of each colour, so that they will buy more pairs.
Once you've been running through the mud the colours become pretty irrelevant anyway. :D

Yeah, I also like the colours they have in the States, they're always funky, particularly the black ones.

I noticed the same with my Brooks Adrenaline 5.
Athletes Foot had a different colour than Rebel.
Makes it confusing when your shopping around.
BTW, Rebel were cheaper by $10 :)
Can't disgree with that when out shopping on a budget, as I usually am.
But on the other hand, if money is no object, I think many people get a psychological lift out of having something that looks a bit funky -- whether it be a sleeveless top, some new sexy budgie smugglers, or some lairy shoes. Why deny them that? And I'd say the shoe companies' motives are aimed more at not losing sales to other makers than trying to artificially create demand that doesn't exist.
I'm not sure if they came out in Australia, but last autumn here in Japan Asics released a sort of reddish-brown highlighted 2090s...it felt nice wearing them while everyone else had the run-of-the-mill blue & white ones.
