Hi All,
Yesterday my hubby went to the Adidas outlet at their head office in Mulgrave (Victoria) and was able to buy the Control or Supernova runners for about $100 off retail price - the current range too.
I prefer the Brooks or Asics shoes (I run in Trance NXR most of the time and Kayano as my alternative shoe) and I want to know if anyone knows of other discount places to buy shoes? I don't care about the colours etc. Last year's model is fine with me!
Having just forked out a few hundred for orthotics, backing up and spending another couple of hundred on shoes in the next week or two starts to hurt.
What about buying online? Any recommendations? The Trance NXR is about AU$240 retail here. Online you can see them for around US$120. Even with delivery and exchange rates that still works out as a good deal.
WHERE TO GO?
Melbourne:
- Leo Russell in Preston (Asics)
Other suggestions?
Discounted running shoes

I have worn the Adidas SupaNova Control as a training shoe previously (being in the last 12months) and really liked them as they gave great support for my overpronation problem. I then saw what is probably the previous model at the Adidas Outlet at Auburn selling for $90 a pair with the offer of a second pair for $45.
Although they felt ok on trying on and walking around I found when it came to running in them that they were completely not the right shoe. They were much heavier than the later model I had trained in and were far to narrow accross the bridge of the foot, to the point where the outer edge was digging into the bone on the side of my little toes. It was excutiatingly painful and after 4-5 runs with no give I've decided to toss them. Really should be taking them back but I don't know if Adidas would take them back once worn.

Adidas used to advertise 30 day trail period. You can run anywhere in the shoes and if you are not happy you can take them back.

Thanks for that but I'm now outside of the 30 days

Speedy Girl: did the exact same thing! Bought Adistar Control's on sale, ran in them and they sucked: so much forefoot pain and they weighed a ton. Didnt shed too many tears when my brother took them with him to England.

Hi Grasshopper,
I've bought Asics online from Stringersports without a problem. Really friendly service too. They are located in Melbourne but I'm on the Mid North Coast of N.S.W. and recieve the order in about 4 working days if they have the stock on hand. They have discounted current runners and also have a "specials" section on the website with great discounts on previous dated runners.
Worth a look!
kazz.
