Has anyody had any experience with them? They have a store in Prahran, and more importantly (for me anyway) have just opened up a new store on Canterbury Road in Heathmont.
It is a Running Shoe store owned/operated by podiatrists/runners. The track your gait before and after they recommend new shoes to ensure they are offering you an EXACT fit.

Yeah I have been into the store in Parahn. It is a great store with good advice on the latest shoes. Having the camera makes all the difference in choosing a shoe as you can actually see how it corrects or enhances your running gait. I belive one of the blokes that works there is a triathlete too who did the NZ ironman this year, thats gotta speak for something.
Otherwise try Neil Ryan at runners world in Kew - this guy is the grandad of running in Melbourne. A 2:17 Marathon runner at his peak, expert shoe fitter and all round good guy, can't reccomend him highly enough, has fitted out stawell gift winners, is well respected and switched on. :P
Hope this helps.
Why run - because I can.

I went to Active Feet last week with my wife to get her kitted out with new shoes - saw the camera on the treadmill and thought it was a really good way of viewing the foot - with and without shoe - and how it strikes the ground ie. pronation wise.
They then gave my wife a few sample shoes and got her to run on the treadmill again to review heel strike, etc - I was very impressed with the knowledge of the team there. website link is http://www.activefeet.com.au

What are the costs involved in getting fitted at "Active Feet"? or are the shoes at a slightly inflated cost?

Rhino There is no additional cost, as such, so I guess they add some margin to the price of the shoes - Tough to tell - it all depends on how much value you place on your time spent shopping around (penny wise, pound foolish). I hate doing it, so even though I may find a cheaper price later, I am still happy.
As you also get a podiatrist looking at your feet (cost me $60 the last time I looked for advice, on top of the cost of the shoes), I reckon it was a great service. The place was packed as well, so they must be doing something right.
From memory they focus on Brooks, ASICS & NewBalance - they also sell great running sock, tailored for the left and right foot(!) the brand escapes me but my wife thinks they are fantastic.

Rhino,
No additional cost. They sell the shoes at RRP.
I got Asics 2090s for $199. I did a check when I was out and about over the next couple of weeks. Myer $199, Rebel $179.
So could have got them cheaper, but the service was awesome and well worth it. And you are not paying over the odds, you are just not buying discounted shoes.
Highly recommended.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I look forward to a proper fitting pair of shoes... I really feel the Brooks Beasts are no longer suited to my 69kg 171cm frame - they were okayish when I was 87kg, but i really feel as though my feet are swimming in them these days.

Fitzcameron, I think that you might be referring to X-socks, I know that they come in left and right sided socks.

yeah they are great, asics and nike also make just as good anatomical socks for both left and right feet.
