Ahhh the age old question- what shoe do I buy???

I've been getting excruciating inner knee pain recently from running in my Asics 1060's, so will bite the bullet and get new running shoes...

I'm a medium framed female, wear orthotics to support my arches, am hyperflexible, so my ankles and knees aren't particularly stable (so the podiatrist says).

What good support/stability shoe can you recommend??

Cheers

G'day Just tri it,

Take your old shoes & orthotics to your nearest specialist running store in your case it's The Runners Shop in Canberra, They do lots of work with podiatrists and they understand how a shoe will age & perform for an orthotic wearer of your biomechanics.

good luck

Hi Just tri it

I had been wearing ASICS 2080s (and there equivalent for a few years). I am a 55kg female and also have had a few stability problems and wear orthotics. I recently changed to the Brooks Adrenalin. I do not have wide feet and was a bit sceptical about making such a change. It took a while to get used to the shoe, but now I really like them. I use them for all my longer runs. However, for racing I still revert back to my ASICS racing flats (minus the orthotics).

Good luck. I agree, to ensure that you get shoes to meet your own personal needs, head to The Runners Shop or the equivalent specialist store in your area.

Cheers

I moved from 2080s to the Koji, which is just a beefed-up version of the same. I wear orthotics also, to support an over-pronation that last year gave me shin splints. These shoes are pretty heavy, but I've been very happy with them so far, and a nagging lower back pain that I was getting with the 2080s disappeared with these.

In the end, though, going to a specialist runner's shop is probably the best idea - that way you can get advice on everything available for your foot type.

Well I just went to the Runners Shop in Canberra, and they were just brilliant!! I don't know the name of the girl- young girl with short, dark, curly hair- and she was wonderful!

I told her what I needed, and she looked at how I stood and how I walked to get an idea of how much I pronated. She had a good look at my old shoes, and went off and found a number of pairs of shoes in my size, looking for what I needed and most importantly what was on special!

I got great service and ended up with a pair of Brooks Ariel's for $160, when they are advertised for $209!

One very happy customer here- just have to get out and run with them and see how they perform.... :D
