I am wondering if anyone can offer some advice on what shoes are good at the moment. I used to wear Kayanos but have found that they are quite heavy on my feet.
I am an overweight female who is gong to start running again this year. I am already walking so running will start in a week. I do tend to pronate and suffer shin splints
Tomorrow I am off to get some shoes at the sales which is why I ask if anyone has any experiences that they can share. I have never worn anything but ASIC but was wondering about Saucony and Brooks as well
Thanks
edited to add - i did try and find some show reviews but had no luck
Which shoe?

Saw you were on the Central Coast. I would highly recommend visiting Kerry at the Runners Shop on York Street at East Gosford. His service is first rate and he always does a good price.

See the latest R4YL magazine for some independent and up to date shoe reviews. What surfaces to you run on winterpaws? If you suffer from shin splints then it might be wise to keep to softer trails or wear something with extremely good cushioning (eg Nike Air Pegasus).

I have Asics Kayano and Mizuno Wave Alchemy. The Mizuno's are much lighter than the Asics due to the design of the wave support mechanism but still give very good support.

Thanks all.
Greybeard - I am running on a treadmill and when outside running on the road or dirt if possible
I find it hard to get comfortable shoes - my other asics (GT2060) end up giving me shooting pain in the archs of the my feet
My shoes need to be stable as I am prone to ITB and it is what stopped me running a few years back. I'm vigilant about stretching but probably also need to do some strengthening exercises as well??
I do like ASICS but would like to try another company as comparison but not sure of the equivalent to the Kayan in other brands
This is a dumb question but can I buy that magazine at the newsagent? I have never seen it before

Winterpaws if you're still using Asics 2060s they are probably worn out (unless it's a typo and you meant 2090s). Even if you haven't done enough kms to wear out the sole, the cushioning is probably shot. Use them for walking not for running!

You might want to give Brooks Adrenaline a try. I've run in Asics for years, including the 20XX and 21XX series. I've had no problems with these shoes, but I didn't like the only pair of Kayano's I wore.
I have had 2 pairs of Adrenaline in the last 2 years and I have found them to be excellent shoes.
Now I buy Adrenaline or 21XX, depending on which is cheaper at the time.

I have a pair of the Kayano XI and just updated to the Kayano XII. The XII are noticeably lighter so if you liked the Kayano's support they may be more suitable to you now. I also have a pair of DS Trainer X which are very light but I don't think they give you as much support.
