pepster, I had the same problem. My podiatrist suggested rubbing a cake of soap on the inserts on the edges where it is creaking.

Did this last week and creaking is gone, simple as that!

Pepster

As O Runner suggested the soap works a treat & so does candle wax.

I usually suggest talcum powder as it doesn't stain.
Pour a liberal amount into your shoes and rub it into the fabric where the orthotic rubs. Works for me, and kills the low-tide scent too!

Thanks for the suggestion guys.

One thing, do you need to keep re-applying soap, wax, talc etc.?

I would think eventually yes, but mine have not started creaking again so have not had to worry!

I have a hard time sneaking out of the house at 5.30 am without waking the wife and baby. My problem is a pair of loud, creaky orthotics.
Is there anything I can do to stop this?

This is something I have put up with for over a year. Its (I am) the office joke now. How do you know where they are creaking from? Mine just sound like all of them are creaking...

Wobbly

Don't worry about where they are creaking from & don't waste time trying to find out.

Eliminate all possibilities & run some soap/wax around those edges that are in contact with sole & sides of the shoe ....... silent running :D

I wrap the orthotic in a piece of my wife's old stocking/pantyhose - permanent solution works great for me!

Dont know why I didnt put this question on here myself. Know exactly what you mean Pepster and the solution from Podrunner has worked a treat. The only difference was I used shoe deodorant powder because Ididnt have any talcum powder. Killing 2 birds at once!!

Cheers

Ian C :)
