apoligies in advance - think this has been done before!

Have a good friend living overseas who has to spend a fortune to invest in new running shoes and he does run lots of kms.

Read conversation before about "running goo".  My question - what does it do and how is it used?  Does it breathe old life into the soles and help the runner to get a bit more distance out of the soles before he has to get a new pair of shoes?

In other words - is it worth me sending a tube of the stuff to him ever so often?

Thanks

Phil  :)

Phil,

is really just stuff that is used to repair runners, such as gluing soles back on. Rebel Sports carry it and I have seen it there on sale. Other people use it as a prophylactic in that they put it on certain spots on the sole of their shoes to try to prevent wear. Personally I think it's a bit of hogwash, since my shoes are "dead" in that they go soft after about 600km, far before wear is a problem, but that is just me since other CRs use it.

Here is the previous thread on Shoe Goo.

I thinnk Winston summed it up pretty well in the previous thread when he mentioned that The worn out sole is not the first indicator a shoe has passed its used by date .

Shoe goo is great stuff, I once had a flatmate who I felt ran too fast in our AM easy recovery runs...so I Shoe Goo'd his shoes to the front steps.

I have had customers from time to time that are very hard on their shoes when it come to heal wear (one customer -G'day Roger) Can run through an outersole in 4 weeks And the problem with Shoe Goo is that you need to apply it each time you go out. But for people who have that "late toe down" problem(when your toe comes out the top of the shoe) you can use this inside the shoe before the hole appears but good tape is better!
If you find you are only getting 300k - 400k out of your shoes (heal area) A good shoe repair place can sculpt a new piece of rubber for you for about $10 each shoe.

Good luck
