Has anyone tried out the new Trance? According to sales guys, it has new forefoot cushioning which I felt was a little bit lacking in the previous model (well for me when going down steep hills). Would be interested to hear if anyone has experience of the Kayano and the Trance.
Rebel currently has the Kayano on special for $189 and I'm tempted to buy a pair.

I have used both these shoes and am still happy with either. The Kayano are about 25g heavier (and feel it) but are very comfortable. The Trance feel much lighter and are definitely more responsive. The only real difference for me is the price and currently the Kayano's are $189 at varoius places while the cheapest I have seen the Trance are $212 at the the runners shop in Sydney.

Why spend 200 dollars on a whim ? At least run on a treadmill or find out the flaws in the old & new Trance . The Kayanos collapsed in the forefoot , the 8th i think ?Check out the usa shoe forums . The shoes are usually out earlier over there & see comments of interest about the current models .

I have just bought my first Kayanos and I can't praise them highly enough. I tried on the Brooks Trance in the store, but for me they just didn't feel as "right" as the Kayanos. That would be a personal thing, though.
Paul's Warehouse has the Trance for about $209. Oh, that's the women's model, though. I'm not sure which ones you're looking for! (Don't take that the wrong way .. I'm sure it would be perfectly obvious if I saw you in the flesh! :D )

Thanks 26miles, appreciate your feedback.
I don't think 25gram is going to make any difference to my running times. I'm more interested in durability and comfort. From what you're saying there is not a lot between them, so I'll probably go for the cheaper. So where can I find a shop with a 28 day return policy on either? ;)

Lonewolf, i went from the kayanos to the trance, no problems with either, though my kayanos were old (7's i think . . .) and i wore them to death (holes in the sole, stitching undone etc) but they were very confortable (for my feet anyway!). i've only had the trance a couple of weeks, but find them comfy to run in (and ran a pb in them last saturday :D ). I have heard reports regarding the newer kayano models that they aren't as good (and didn't feel as comfortable to me when i tried them on in the shop) having said that, each pair of feet is different, and what works for some may not work for others.
But if you like the trance, why change? that old saying - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" :D
cya at Beaumont road on the 13th - hopefully you can run another pb in your new shoes! :D :D
