it seems to be fairly widely accepted that we should have two pairs of running shoes which are alternated to assist in recovery of the cushioning. I read on the ASICS label that speva bounces back immediately - not by the next day, mind you, but ready for the next foot strike.
Can it be deduced from this that we only need one pair of ASICS due to their superior recovery - or is it that something doesn't quite add up in the marketing spiel?

Know very little or nothing about shoe science and always ignore marketing speil; I just know the shoe that suits me... it's Asics & always have 2 pairs to alternate; last week I bought 2 pairs of the new 2090, having used the 2080 for training & the DS Trainer when competing in any runs.
Rebel stores have a discount on them till some time in Jan. I think, so thought it a good time to invest... they were $167 a pair & I still vote it the best.....for me anyhow.

I've tried backing up for my Sunday long run in the same shoes I ran in on Saturday, and I definitely think the shoes need longer than 24 hours to recover.
From Luckylegs' comments - interesting that the 2004 Asics range seems to be a good deal cheaper. Rebel are carrying series X Kayanos at $200, compared to the old series IX at $249.95. Guess the appreciating dollar effect had to filter through some time.

I always understood that the reason to have 2 pairs of running shoes was to let them properly dry out between runs.
As for the prices of Asics at Rebel I think it is a special for the new models in the Asics range. Talking to a Rebel employee they expect the specials to change to different models after a few weeks.

Rebel Sport has the Kayanos 10 on special for christmas.I bought two pairs last week as my current ones were badly in need of replacement.I instantly felt the difference and returned home on sunday after my long run with none of the sorness in my knees and feet etc. They are a fine shoe and worth every cent I paid for them. I have had the 9's 8's & 7's and have never ran in anything else. :D B)
