Hi all.

I was at Victoria Market (Melbourne) on the weekend, and noticed Asics 2100 selling for $140. The RRP for them is $200, and I have seen them discounted to $170 in some stores.

They seemed to have all of the dozen or so tags that you would expect to see on a pair of Asics. Has anyone bought from the market before? Do you reckon they are genuine Asics, or a cheap knock off?

Cheers.

I have 2 pairs of asics Kayanos, one bought from a reputable store and one from Victoria Market. Try as I might, by looking at them I cannot tell the difference between them.
They do however feel slightly different, but this may be only a function of wear. the pair from the reputable store has done about 500km and the other pair about 100km.
When I bought them I wondered if they were knockoffs, and I am still not sure.
Would love to know if anyone else knows.

I have bought Asics at the market before, and believe them to be genuine - certainly couldn't pick any differene in looks, feel, or wear. Generally found them to be about $10 cheaper than the cheapest everyday price elsewhere (Leo Russell), but you can get them even cheaper again (about $20 off) at Leo Russell when they are running out a colour/style (usually June) or model (usually December), if they have the size you want in the superseded shoe.

Before I discovered ebay, I bought all my runners from the Vic market and have never had any problems with them. They certainly look genuine but if they are an elcheapo then they seem to work just as good as anything you'll buy anywhere else. Mine have certainly gone the distance.

I'd bet they're the real McCoy, the asics 2100 series usually get reduced about this time of year, as the new color for that model will come out in July.

I've brought a couple of pairs of Brooks Vapours from the Vic Market for $100 (RRP $159.95, definitely the real deal, usually two seasons old. When Myer has there 25% sale on mens and womens runners (usually twice yearly) the Vapours go down to $120, then I go to Rebel with this price and get them to price match and beat it by 10%, so then I get the newest model pair of Vapours for only $108 :) You just have to make sure that the Myer you go to or ring has them in your size because the Rebel staff call Myer to check that they do and for the sale price.
