Hi, I've had plantar fasciitis for 18mths in my right foot and 2mths in my left foot. I have high arched feet. I am consulting a good podiatrist (my 2nd), on my 2nd much better orthotics, etc. I want to change all my footwear. I wear the recommended runners. Only excercise I do is swimming, yoga, exercise bike. I wear Rockport shoes to work, which really cushion and prevent aggravating my feet. However I cannot wear most fashionable footwear as they have virtually no soles! I aggravate my feet socially. Can anyone recommend stylish footwear to wear socially? Shoes & trainers? Where in Brisbane or Gold Coast? Thanks.

Hi Russ

It's very hard to find good shoes that give you support, even harder for a woman. In the end I gave in and had a second pair of orthotics made which fit in my work shoes, even those with heels.. probably not something you need to worry about! This has really helped my PF to heal completely

Good luck with it as it's an annoying thing to have to put up with.

i have orthotics in my runners, and my work shoes and in the pair of runners i wear around at home. i never walk barefeet or wear thongs anymore since i had pf. "the price we pay for a pf-free life is eternal vigilance".

Although I cannot lay claim to being in any way stylish, when I had bad PF in 2003, I found that if I taped my arch, I could wear higher heels.

I had to go to a wedding and several functions and so had to crack out the all purpose black stilettos. My foot was tired by the end of the night, but the taping protected it and as it was on the sole of my foot, it didn't show.

Just a suggestion.

cheers
