I am not the expert on brands or models.
Go to the shops and try all the shoes You can think off, get the feel of each. Do not talk to the sales people.
After You have the feel for everything available,
contact LOCO (from the home page of CR website)
email might not work, so better ring them) and organize to test all the shoes they have - get the feel for them.
Make the decision later.
What brand?

I agree with Rudolf, go and try on as many different ones as you can, so you can "experience" the difference between the brands.
I know that my feet don't suit certain brands - for some reason the trademark "stripe" design of one manufacturer causes dreadful blistering in my arches.
Depending on how far you have been running, I would be changing your shoes more than every couple of years - you should get between 600 - 800 k's out of a pair dependenant upon your weight and running style.

Hi
I strongly suggest you get yourself to a specialist running shop to save yourself a lot of time, money and injuries. You could go and try every pair of shoes in every shop, but why bother, if you go to a GOOD shop they will look at your needs and narrow it down to what suits you.
My personal recomendation is The Athletic Edge, the guy there will video you running and then suggest some shoes, then video you again with the new shoes to see how the shoes work on you. AND there's a discount for Coolrunners. (NO I don't have any financial interest in the store, just a very happy customer)
Ohh and I would also suggest Loco shoes too, not that I have any, but Kevin is a really good bloke.

Howdy all,
I'm a newbie here (1st post).
I go for a run a couple of times a week, no more than 5km at a time. After having read some posts here I realise that I just aint in the game - but the reason for the post is I need new shoes.
Years ago (mid 90's) I was buying Nike & the like at about $150 / $170 but they wouldn't last 3 months. - Air bags bursting (and they claimed they were out of warranty, because 3 mths is the life of a shoe !)
As a result I have changed & the current pair I have (now worn out) are Mizuno waves - they have lasted about 2 or 3 years & still in pretty good nick - but the shock absorbance has gone.
I have considered the "Asics 1" - just to give the thing a crack - but have heard the battery is only good for about 100km ??? And, apart from that they're $450 !
So, realistically, I am probably looking at the Mizuno Wave rider 8 - but having difficulty finding them is US size 14.
What do you more experienced people recommend? How do the more well known brands stack up these days? How long should a shoe last?
Thanks in advance.
