We all agree that shoes don't last long enough, but how many shoes do you need to run 700-800 kms in 6 days ?

Did Kouros change his shoes when he ran 303 kms in 24 hrs to set the world record ?

Shoes for ultra races need to be reasonably soft to cope with feet swelling from 18 hours a day, so theoretically you need quite a few pairs, especially as they can get very wet with hours of sweating in hottish conditions.

Two.
One for each foot.
Seriously, I only used two fairly new pairs last year.

I have problems with newish shoes in races.

It's hard to get enough pairs lined up with the right amount of wear for a long race.

This is why I wanted to know what others do. Thanks for your reply.
