Hi people,
Can anybody advise me out there where i can purchase genuine Asics inner soles from?
I have still got some good wearing to do on my Asics GT 2100 and i am wondering if new inner soles will give me a renewed ride of comfort. I have done around 500 ks in a pair of GT 2100 and a pair of Gel Kayanos. Is getting a pair of inner soles worth it?

Kind Regards
Michael T

I had an email from a coolrunner recently on this same topic. The reality is that the purpose of insoles is to customise the fit of the shoe by molding around the foot. It takes about 10 hours for this to occur. Buying new insoles, genuine or not, would have an insignificant affect on the cushioning. Shock attenuation (the scientific term for cushioning) is the job of the midsole. Insoles are usually thin and designed to mold down thinner or they are soft and designed to make the shoe feel soft. Softness is not cushioning and in fact research has shown that as you increase softness you decrease actual shock attenuation. I suggest you repolace the insoles if they have fallen apart but otherwise it is a waste of money as they will not work as anything more than a placebo in extending the life of your shoes.

Steve:
Is there any problem (other than possible blisters) from running in shoes in which the inner sole has been taken out. In other words does it increase tghe risk of injury from having less cushioning. I think you have really answered that in your previous post but I just wanted the no inner sole question clairfied. B)

There is an increased possibility of blisters but that is reduced these days with the sock lining. What you lose is the traction inside the shoe so that there is an increased risk of calf and hamstring pulls and a slight loss in performance. For triathletes insoles may be annoying as they slip when shoved onto a wet foot.

I'm interested in an answer to the original question also if someone has one (preferably online/postal purchase as I'm in Ballarat).

I cut my 1100's sock liners to accommodate an orthotic, but after trial and error found that running with the orthotic gave me bad blisters. So now I'm running without them. I've got a pair of 2100's now, but I want to get replacement sock liners for the 1100 and use them for trail/wet work.

Michael,

If you wear size 12 US you can have all of mine as I wear orthotics and have no need for them. I have a large collection of them (2100s, DS Trainers). I'm not too sure why I even keep them!
