Has anybody heard about their being a shortage in the availability Asics Kayano's?

Rowe & Jarman have a sale on at the moment with Kayano's selling for $195 which is considerably cheaper than the RRP of $255. Even the on-line Asics store is dearer at $215.

So I go into the local R&J store only to be told they have none in stock, they check with their other store (I am in Hobart so there only 2 stores) and they have none either. The guy rings up Asics and is told there are none in Australia and the won't have any till next month at best.

If true it seems incredible that a company the size of Asics could stuff up their supply chain so badly. So I wondered if anybody else had heard about this or whether Rowe & Jarman are full of it.

I don't know about right now but a few weeks ago I was in Newcastle & saw some Kayanos in Pauls Warehouse. Also around the same time I saw some in The Athletes Foot at Port Macq (I was buying the Asics Nimbus).

kazz.

Been a while since i have commented on anything but i thought i might as well now! Asics dont tend to look after their stores to well. Once a store buys what they think they can sell Asics dont support them with stock, instead you have to place an order and get them in like you were told in a month. In my experiences we dont even waste time ordering Asics in due to that problem. Certain stores buy up as much as they can and then sell it either cheaper initially or flog it off at a later date. Asics dont, and have been struggling to maintain buyer relationships, one of these problems has also been in the great variation in the prices of Asics shoes. The story goes deep however there are Asics in the country but what the stores have is what they have unless they are getting it from another store i would tend to believe what you were initially told. :)

Nuh, I was in Leo Russells yesterday and he had heaps and my local Athletes Foot sold a pair to a mate on the weekend.

I would suspect that R&J have a supply chain prob.

Thanks for your input guys.
I ordered the Kayano's through the Asics on-line store last Wednesday and received them last night in the mail.

Hi Wilbur_46,

Try:

http://www.stringersports.com.au (located in Victoria, I think)

Or, now that the $A is stronger, for an even better deal (with no hassles re. Customs, or GST), try:

http://www.footrxstore.com - email Jamie and ask abt his "discount code."

Cheers,
Tuttle
