Has anyone tried the new Kayano model yet? I was about to buy the Kayano XI, but I noticed that Athletes Foot has the newer model. Big difference in price, but if the XII is a lot better, it may be worth it?
Any opinions?

You are right - Athletes Foot do have Ver XII now - they also have their own colour scheme for Kayanos that is different to most - current version is white with orange/blue detailing.
Asics generally release two kayanos a year, usually Dec/Jan and again June/July
Stores like Rebel and other sporting retail outlets will get Ver XII in Dec ...... which will be white/red/silver.
Have not had a chance to try them and will wait until Rebel (or similar) have them at a more reasonable price.

Thanks, Eat Em. I felt them yesterday, they are a lot lighter than the current version. Bit worried that they may be less cushioned, and at my size, I need the cushioning more than the saved weight.

I posted a link to some info about this a little while ago on this thread.
Info suggests that stability, cushioning and responsiveness remain unchanged.

Has anyone noticed if the new forefoot "gel unit" in the Kayano XII gives a softer ride then the Kayano XI??

I tried the XII's on today as well as the 2110. The forefoot feels like there is a lot more cushioning compared to my XI's. They are a lot lighter. My only concern is that with the extra cushioning the ratio from heel hight to forefoot feels like its 1:1 (flat).

I have a brand new pair of the ladies ones "blue colour". I have ran in them since Wednesday and they are very comfy and light. They feel pretty good but that said, I had my last pair for over a year (too long). My only gripe about the asics is that they are so ugly especially for the price. In my uni days about 10 years ago I used to work in a sports store and I reckon the shoes were prettier then than they are now. That said there are some new asics mens runners coming out in the next couple of months, they are a step up from the kayano and sound pretty impressive, although pretty expensive.

I bought a pair of the Kayano XI in June and they have been a great shoe. I just got a pair of the XII and they have been great. Had about 5 runs in them and did the Mountain to Surf in Lorne and had no problems. When I initially bought the XI I had to wear them in before they were comfortable, but the XII have been fantastic. A bit lighter which is very handy...

Also I got my Kayano's for $199 from MSD. Rebel had them for $229 and Myer had 30% off but only on Kayano XI with RRP of $259.

Bought a pair of XII (female) for Lorne M2Surf the day before the race. Absolutely fantastic, very light (noticeably) and stable. Did not get any blisters in a new shoe!!

The footlocker store at Fountain Gate (Melb) have Kayano XII's with 20% off. That means $259 - $52 = $207. Just bought the only pair in size 10.5. Other sizes are available.
Interesting that the Athletes Foot store about 10 shops away had the same pair for $250 (no discount). Most big dept stores in Melb sell for around $250.
Haven't checked out Leo Russells (24 Gilbert Rd East Preston) since last Nov, normally Kayano's are around the $180-$190 range (cash only), if you want to drive there.

AndrewinOz,
Have you used Kayano's before? And now your in Brooks Trance, can you provide a summary to differences and preference as my Physio recommended Brooks over Asics for stability shoes.
I've had 2 pairs of Kayanos and I'm deciding about trying a pair of Brooks, the Trance specifically.
Cheers.
