I bought a pair of saucony runners at the beginning of the year, they didnt work well for running, causing me knee pain so i relegated them to work shoes. One has, over the last few months, developed a loud squeak when i walk on them. I wasnt bothered by it until my asics 2080's, which i run in, have developed a squeak in the heel of one of them.
Does this mean they are done with and i need new ones? Or are they a bad make? Just seems weird that it has happened to two pairs now.
Anybody had this happen?

I hada pair of Kayanos develop a squeak after about 100k - the Running Centre at Edgecliff exchanged them as there was a burst something in the heel.  Depends how old the are....

There would have no more than a couple of hundred on them i would say. I got them early this eyar but dont run anywhere near as much as you Action. I've had them too long to take back and i would only do that if they were new. I only noticed it yesterday and i have been thinking about new shoes anyhow - would like to get a couple more months out of them tho. They still feel ok. Its just annoying. I'll just stick with them and mention it to Joe when i go to get my new shoes.

Jodester, can you make them squeak just standing in them?  If so, get Brian to get down and see if he can pinpoint the squeakpoint and then apply a liberal dose of shoe goo - it may block the squeak if it is a leak... won't give them longer life, but may get rid of the squeak until the the guilt of dumping them has passed!

K Action, will give it a burl when it gets too annoying. I had a giggle when i read your post and imagined Brian on the ground trying to hear where my shoes are squeaking...

Maybe its not the shoes that are squeaking!

May be the shoes are too speaky clean. Get out there and get them real dirty. That may block a few holes without going to the trouble/expense of Shoo Goo.

Thanks for that Wildthing - no it's not the old bones, its the shoes cos the left saucony squeaks and the right asics one.
Phantom, you obviously didnt see my shoes the other weekend when you spotted me - They are anything but clean....

Hi Jodie

I had a similar squeak in my 2070s.  I've  heard the same sqeak in the 2080s a couple of times, but more worrying is the squelchy, squeak I get in the right shoe if it gets wet.

Definitely sounds like you've got a puncture Jodie. I had the same with a pair of Brooks Adrenaline and knew as soon as I did it. Country road, miles from anywhere.. Don't bother calling NRMA roadside assistance either. They don't want to know .... Bas***ds !!
